WKOW reported yesterday that an investigation is ongoing to determine the veracity of more than 1000 doctor excuses that have been handed in by Madison teachers in an attempt to justify their absence from teaching duties that ultimately resulted in the closing of school for four consecutive days. The results of this inquiry will result in teacher suspension.
"A new contract with Madison teachers says fraudulent excuses will result in a letter of suspension but won't require suspended teachers to be off from work." How is that for punishment! I mean really, if this is the ultimate result of any investigation, what is the point? Why even proceed with the charade? It gets better though:
A district spokesman says it is looking at how many excuses were written by the same physician and checking to make sure the listed physician is in fact the employee's doctor.
The new teacher contract says fraudulent excuses will result in "suspension with time served." That means teachers won't miss any more days of school, but they will be on probation and could face greater consequences for any future incidents. (Emphasis added)
The fact that this verdict comes as a result of contract negotiation reveals the exact reason collective bargaining should be eliminated as part of public sector union negotiations.

Bet it don’t happen.
Sounds like something straight out of the UN Security Council... equivalent of a sternly worded resolution...
Makes me think of one of my favorite phrases...”genuine imitation leather”.
Since substitutes had to be paid, at the very least the teachers should be docked for each day they missed and not allowed to use vacation time to get those days paid.
Double Secret Probation
You don't think they will get a letter?
Why I bet they are so mad about it, they even use all capitals in a few of the words in the letter, just to show them whose really boss.
Suspension with or without pay?
Stop!!! or I’ll yell stop again...
Isn’t this “Mal-Practice’?
Take some licenses ... when you sign a Medical form, you are placing yourself, as a medical expert, in a position of authority. With this authority, comes some responsibility.
If I were to sign a Medical form (I am not a doctor) - I’d go to jail. So, if a MD participates in a fraud, isn’t this not only fraud, but Mal-Practice as well?
If a MD can’t tell the difference between a healthy adult, and an adult who is too sick to perform the task they have been hired to do? Does that person need to be in a position when it comes to diagnosing your medical treatment?
Oh, the horror! The teachers might also receive a rap on the knuckles with a ruler. Absolute brutality!
WI Teachers’ union to claim that we are back to the wage slave days of the Robber Barons in 5 . . . 4 . . . 3 . . . 2 . . .
They should be banned from teaching for Two years.
Make them get a real job like the rest of the USA.
review pictures of the rallies. find the doctor of any teacher proven to be at a rally and submit the doctor’s name to whatever licensing board they have.
any teacher proven to not be sick could be fired for providing false documentation to their employer.
I’m seeing a pattern here
Whether it’s misbehaving teachers or misbehaving countries, liberals believe that a tersely worded letter will solve the problem
School teachers, especially this kind, are in no wise SCARCE! Give THIS bunch, the whole lot of them, “the left foot of fellowhsip” and employ others who actually DESIRE to TEACH!
This means nothing. Just as predicted.
