There are the “Gunwalkers” at ATF, and then there are the real Gunrunners. In addition to turning a knowingly blind eye to gun smuggling, some New Mexico City officials are alleged to be willing participants in gunrunning for profit for them. Eddie Espinoza, Mayor of Columbus, New Mexico, its Police Chief, Angelo Vega, who had just come off administrative leave for alleged wrongdoing, and Blas Giuterrez, a city councilman, have been arrested for suspected gunrunning across the border from this town. They were among eleven arrested under an 84 count indictment. The town’s last claim to fame was that it was where Poncho Villa entered the United States when he made a raid there.

Police found and seized 40 AK-47rifles, over 1,500 rounds of ammunition and 30 high-capacity magazines from those before they crossed the border. At least 12 firearms found in Mexico were traced back to them.

The Bradys, Violence Policy Center, and Ceasefire have been saying that gun dealers have been indiscriminately letting guns go across the border into Mexico. This has become their latest cause. Instead of expressing outrage over the ATF “Gunwalker” scandal, the Brady Campaign is Outraged...

...gun dealers have been indiscriminately letting guns go across

How exactly are gun dealers supposed to stop guns from going anywhere? I didn't know it was a gun dealer's job. I thought the Feds did that. Why is it the writer wants gun dealers to do the Feds job but Arizona is being sued for doing the feds jobs?

The police.

In an "American" town.

This is the end result of 50 years of Mexican immivasion: they bring Mexico with them. Corruption at a level that can't be comprehended by poor little white bread WASPs.

The police in an American town were selling machine guns to people who are the most violent murderers in the hemisphere.

None of this was ever heard of or tolerated 40 years ago in the same area.

I thought the Feds did that.

There all too busy working with the local cops to get guns into Mexico, this is the 5th or 6th police officer arrested in the past few months for gun running, not to mention the slew of ICE agents who have been arrested lately for either outright smuggling illegals into the country or taking money to turn a blind eye while they are hustled thru their patrol zones.

Seems to be the problem isn;t FFL's or lawful gun owners, its the .gov and all its agents who are guilty of gun running.

Columbus needs a city councilman? On second thought, does Columbus need a mayor or police chief? It seems like it would be cheaper to hire an unemployed McDonalds clerk to manage the town, and station a deputy there.

Sr. Espinoza is a democrat, and an Obama supporter.

You have to wonder and gnash your teeth at the same time to think if any of these two f’ing criminal masterminds might have thought that the weapons they were selling to Mexican killers would have been used against them or their fellow officers.

“Why is it the writer wants gun dealers to do the Feds job but Arizona is being sued for doing the feds jobs?”

The blog stated:
“What the hell is a gun shop supposed to do when they are told to “Go ahead, sell them,” by the government agency that approves the sales of guns at gun shops here? The Government was intent on their being sold and traced.”
