According to some of the commenters at youtube, during the uprisings the Egyptian police told the monastery they would no longer be able to protect them. The Coptics were told they would have to protect themselves. In order to do that, the Copts built a wall in front of their monastery to protect it. The Egyptian army claimed the wall was built without government permission, so they came with tanks to knock it down. When the unarmed Copts objected, the Egyptian army opened fire on them. This monastery has been there since the 5th century AD.
Attempted Massacre?
Folks, they had tanks. They had AK-47s. They were firing and yet, there isn’t a report of deaths. There’s something fishy with this report.
One guy shows what is supposed to be a stomach wound, and yet he’s standing up pulling up his shirt. That isn’t the actions of a man shot with an AK-47.
Who knows who the kid was? He may have been a member of the community hit with a stray bullet, with all the firing going on.
I’d like to know the full story here. I didn’t see one bullet-hole in the building proper.
I don’t approve of Christians being harmed, or their interests damaged, but I can’t help but think we’re being gamed here.
That looks pretty bad. Besides build up their wall I don’t know what these Christians did to deserve to be shot at, but I’m afraid there will be more of this if Muslims gain control of the military.
