I will be as honest and open as I can without betraying my friendship to Herman Cain.
Background: I have known Herman Cain for almost 7 years, far before he has his eye on running for President, and before he became a talk show host.
My first time sitting in a professional radio studio(did some DJ'ing in college) was at the invite of Herman Cain. I later co-hosted my very own show in that very studio.
I have been very blessed by God. I have surrounded myself with very awesome men. Wonderful men of God with GREAT character, conviction, and integrity. But never in my life, have I met anyone with more integrity, conviction, and character than Herman Cain.
I remember sitting with him at the station and admiring his cowboy hat and so very thankful for his time. While I sat with him before his show started, he told me that he was going to be having a contest on the show that day. He was going to be having a trivia game, and the winners would get a CD. The CD, was a compilation of gospel songs that featured HIM as the singer. WOW- I knew he was a great speaker, with an awesome voice, but I never knew he was a singer to boot!
He told me that he has a surprise for me. I jokingly said "What, are you going to give me one of the answers to a trivia questions so I can win a CD?"
Folks, his head snapped so hard and fast, that I literally leaned back. He looked me straight in the eye and told me that would be cheating. He believes in earning what you want. I was both embarrassed that he didn't realize it was a joke(ya just have to know me), and I was also in awe of the conviction in which he said it with. His body language alone let me know that he was offended by the mere suggestion that he would do such a thing. I knew then, that I was in the presence of a man that had more integrity than anyone I had ever met in my life! (no offense to my husband and my Dad, or any of the other great men in my life).
I have not always seen eye to eye with Herman on all issues. I have had lunch with him several times. I recall once throwing a napkin at him! It was over something funny he said, not in anger, but it is a fond memory that I have of him.
I have challenged him on issues that he holds dear. But he never reacted in anger. He has called me for help on more than one occasion, and I have been blessed and honored to be able to help.
I remember sharing with him how Tony Snow was the one to assure me that Herman was going to be okay, when it became public that Herman was fighting stage four cancer. He was truly touched, not only that Tony cared enough to reach out and reassure me, but also that I was so concerned about his well-being.
Herman talked with me last year about running for President. He was praying on it. Honestly, I discouraged him from running. I feared many things; Palin for one, and a few other things I won't mention.
Later on, I had a wonderful gentleman approach me, asking me to run his campaign for Presidency(not Herman). I called Herman and discussed it with him. I told Herman that I was not qualified to run a Presidential campaign. But, I was willing to help this guy out. But I wanted Herman to hear from me, that I was going to be helping someone other than Him.
Herman's first response was that he felt competition was a good thing. NOT KIDDING. He also appreciated that I made the call. He then proceeded to give me advise on the challenges I would have ahead of me.
I have since then, realized that I could not help this person any more. Because I did not want this man to be my President. Other than my savior, the most precious gift God has given me, is my children. For them, I want Herman Cain to be our next President.
Present day:
Herman is a strong, and proud man, but a humble man as well. My ability to talk personally with Herman has been greatly diminished due to his schedule, etc as he explores an HONEST run to be our next President.
Herman has shared with me many things that I hold dear. He has shared with me things that he plans to do, if he does take the final step and run for the office of President of the United States of America. I will not share those things, because I feel he shared them with me as a friend whom he trusted. I would never betray his trust. But I do promise to you, that I will immediately let you know if he has not lived up to his word. I don't believe that day will ever come.
I have never worked for Herman. I have never taken a DIME from Herman Cain. EVER. I met him seven years ago, and I fell in love with him that day (I even told him so- that very day).
I am just a fellow FREEPer, who has had the blessed honor to know a man like Herman for 7 years.
Herman is not running for President in order to have an effect on who the GOP nominee will be. He is not a foolish man, able to be duped by people with money and ill intentions trying to play to his ego.
Herman Cain is a man of integrity who has a quality of leadership above and beyond anyone elected to any national office within the past 100 years.
I don't know Herman as a politician. I don't know Herman as a talk show host. I know Herman as a man that I have lunched with, debated with, sought advise from, and offered help to. I know a man named with a talent for leadership, and the moral fortitude to lead with the strength and a heart of servitude. I know Herman Cain as a man, not a personality; A REAL MAN- who says what he means, does what he says, and believes that the key to greatness lies within each of our own selves. He will never betray that, but he will unleash it, if we give him that chance.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions about Cain. The more I read what he has to say and listen to him, the more I like him.
This confirms what I have discerned from seeing Herman Cain on different TV shows. He is very impressive and his faith, not worn on his sleeve but lived, is very obvious. I will be happy to vote for him if he runs.

I enjoyed reading this, and seeing confirmation that he’s sincere.
The way you worded this had me thinking that you were about to drop a bombshell, or were leading up to something negative though. Maybe it’s just me. Glad your intent was just the opposite.

I just wanted to be honest with folks about the fact that there was a time, and a part of me that did not want to see Herman make this run....that I am not some shill or mere fan of a talk show host...
I wanted folks to see him through me eyes....in an honest way..
