Obama Officials Use Fox News to Smear Conservative Group in Shootings
Right Side News ^ | January 9, 2011 | Cliff Kincaid

However, Jennifer Griffin of Fox News recklessly and irresponsibly claimed on Sunday morning that the killer was a political conservative. Using Obama officials as her sources, she reported that “intelligence gathered by the Department of Homeland Security and shared with state officials across the United States” had revealed “a strong suspicion” that the shooter was influenced by a conservative publication called American Renaissance (AR).

I strongly suspect that AR is not welcome on FR.

Yeah, I don’t watch it anymore except when I go to the gym. Still better then CNN and MSNBC so I watch it when I do my sorties on the machines.

The Essence:

DHS is terminally incompetent.

Fox News accepted “reports” which were said to be from DHS, but probably were’nt.

BAD MESS UP, FOX!

DHS should be defunded and disbanded. They do far more damage than they do good.

Fox got played all right. Either they wise up, do their due diligence, and investigate when reporting a story or they will become the useful idiots of the media. The other networks will be happy to see that happen. They will even continue to press that bogus story about Fox viewers being the least informed.

If the commies’ action plans don’t get the results they want, they will use the ensuing confusion to their advantage.

They are not.

A lot of people from all places on the political spectrum prefer not to hear what AR has to say. They are willing to take on taboos that make people uncomfortable.

I would not list AmRen as a conservative publication. If those POS had their way I and my family would be deported or killed. I don’t much like people who want to do away with me. However, I consider myself conservative.

DHS wasn’t incompetent, the Fox reporter was. There is no evidence DHS has. They lied to the reporter. She is incompetent. I knew by noon Saturday that he was a left winger based on the twitter feed of the shooter’s multi year friend. Didn’t the reporter? Every MSM outlet ignored/ignores this. Especially despicable is ABC, who interviewed the friend, but significantly didn’t ask her about his political leanings, because they knew she’d already said he was left wing.

And rightfully so. Jared Taylor is David Duke without the antisemitism and KKK background.

DHS wasn’t incompetent

Your description of this event may be correct, but DHS is "terminally incompetent"! The agency deserves to be closed.

So we have Obama officials planting false information
to the press in an attempt to to blame an innocent party
for collusion in an assassination attempt of a sitting
congress woman. This is lower than “Lets do it for Paul”.
These guys are in bad shape. Three flights below the sewer and no ladder up.

Jared Taylor:

“This is so hopelessly wrong that it is hard to believe it is a genuine government document. No one by the name of Loughner has ever been a subscriber to American Renaissance or has ever registered for an American Renaissance conference. We have no evidence that he has even visited the AR website.

American Renaissance condemns violence in the strongest possible terms, and nothing that has ever appeared in it pages could be interpreted as countenancing it.

AR is not anti-government, anti-Semitic, or anti-ZOG, as is clear from the 20 years of back issues that are posted on our website. The expression “ZOG” has never appeared in the pages of AR, and we have has always welcomed Jewish participation in our work. Many of the speakers at American Renaissance conferences have been Jewish.

Although the name Gabrielle Giffords has appeared in news articles we have excerpted on our website, AR itself has never mentioned her and has certainly never criticized her policies.

Finally, Gabrielle Giffords is not the “first Jewish female elected to such a high position in the US government.” Barbara Boxer has represented California in the Senate from 1993, and Diane Feinstein has done so since 1992. There are at least six Jewish congresswomen listed by Wikipedia as currently serving in the House.”

And is AmRen really a “conservative” group??

Many here would find themselves in disagreement with much of what is posted on AmRen, as well as the tone of things. JimRob has not allowed links to AmRen ever. They characterize themselves as "race realists", that is they beleive that there are differences between races that have implications for our society and nation.

They are definately not anti-semitic, they don't rant on about ZOG, their web output consists purely of linked articles from mainstream media, in a format similar to Free Republic. However AmRen alows blatently racist responses of the type that would quickly get one banned at Free Republic.

It would be impossible to describe them as liberals or leftists. It would be a big stretch to call them 'conservatives' as many people here understand the term, but from the 50,000 foot level they are on the right.

What I get from this, in part, is that Jennifer Griffin is a very poor reporter.

She apparently did no due dilligence on what some Administration hack handed her. She didn't fact check the story, and obviously doesn't know enough about American politics to know that calling Gabrielle Giffords the highest elected Jewish woman in American history is ridiculous.

She could have done Google searches to debunk most of the story, but apparently didn't bother.

Some journalist!

Here is her background from Wikipedia:

Jennifer Griffin

Born 1969
Education Harvard University
Occupation national security correspondent, journalist
Spouse(s) Greg Myre
Children two daughters, one son
Notable credit(s) Fox News Channel

Jennifer Griffin (born 1969) is a Fox News correspondent,[1] currently reporting from The Pentagon in Washington, D.C. as national security correspondent. Prior to her reassignment (on March 12, 2007), she had reported from Jerusalem for the network since joining it in 1999.

She is credited with conducting a rare interview with Ariel Sharon and reported on Sharon's hospitalization. Griffin also provided Fox News' coverage of the expulsion of Jewish settlements from the Gaza Strip.

Griffin has reported from Phuket, Thailand following the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and subsequent Asian tsunami. She also played a part in the release of fellow Fox News reporter Steve Centanni and cameraman Olaf Wiig from captivity in Gaza in 2006.

Prior to joining Fox News, Griffin covered the Middle Eastern affairs for the Associated Press, National Public Radio and U.S. News and World Report. Previously, she reported for The Sowetan newspaper in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she covered Nelson Mandela's release from imprisonment and numerous other moments in South Africa's transition away from apartheid.

Personal: Griffin is a daughter of John W. Griffin, a partner in a Washington law firm, and Carolyn J. Griffin, the producting director of Metrostage, a theater in Alexandria, Va.. Griffin married in Oct. 1994, to Greg Myre,[2] a journalist who has reported for the Associated Press and The New York Times. Griffin and Myre have two daughters; Annalise and Amelia, and son Luke.[3] A 1992 graduate of Harvard University, Griffin has a bachelor's degree in comparative politics. Griffin discovered a lump while nursing her new baby Luke in September, 2009 and soon was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.[4] The aggressive nature of this condition had forced her to leave the airwaves to pursue treatment. Now being cancer free, Jennifer returned to the airways on August 25, 2010 reporting from Kabul, Afghanistan.

Apparently Fox is now backing down on the DHS source and are saying merely that it was an “annonymous law enforcement source”.

They’ve been played and either the reporter was pulling the strings or was herself used by someone. I’m thinking the latter.
