the wake of the attempted assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and the shooting of more than 20 others in Tucson today, fellow Arizona Democrat Rep. Raul Grijalva denounced a political environment poisoned by "anger, hatred, and division." In a phone interview with Mother Jones, Grijalva called the assault "horrible and unbelievable and shocking….It's hard to explain and really difficult to comprehend." Grijalva—who was also the recent target of violent threats—went on to blame the polarized political climate for creating an atmosphere that fueled violence:
We never entered [politics] believing that we were taking our lives in our hands...we're feeding anger, hatred, and division for quite a while. Maybe it is time for elected officials and leaders in this country that have been feeding that disease to realize that there are consequences to it. I hope people stop and think that we can be opponents, but we don't have to be deadly enemies…to demonize another person because of a disagreement and to make them expendible is not a democracy, it's not the America I know.
Asked whether the tea party right deserved to be singled out for particular blame, Grijalva assented:
[When] you stoke these flames, and you go to public meetings and you scream at the elected officials, you threaten them—you make us expendable you make us part of the cannon fodder. For a while, you've been feeding this hatred, this division…you feed it, you encourage it….Something's going to happen. People are feeding this monster….Some of the extreme right wing has made demonization of elected officials their priority.
A number of prominent left-wing blogs, including Daily Kos and FireDogLake, also blamed Sarah Palin for fanning the flames by placing Giffords—along with other vulnerable Democratic members of Congress—literally in the crosshairs on a map during the midterm elections. Grijalva said that the Palin "apparatus" shares responsibility for creating a climate of extremism. "Both Gabby and I were targeted in the apparatus in that cycle [saying] these people are 'enemies.'" He concluded: "The Palin express better look at their tone and their tenor."
Didn’t I read that Frances Fox Piven (of Cloward/Piven “fame”) called for violence or civil disobedience, lately? I was under the impression that as a reaction to the dilution of her marxist dream (via the election of 2010), that “violence” was their only “voice” to garner attention.
Perhaps Frances Fox Piven should be visited by the secret service for the possible incitement of violence towards our representatives in government.
If the media can infer over the airwaves that Palin is to be blamed for the violence, then Frances Fox Piven should, at the very LEAST, be interviewed, as a possible motivation towards violence with her incendiary comments.
The vitriol directed towards Governor Sarah Palin passed that aimed at Vice President Quayle, President Reagan, President Nixon and President Bush in 2009. It’s at a level that’s 10X all those by now. There’s never been anything like it in history that I’m aware of. That tells me that she is RIGHT OVER THE TARGET!!!
I believe it was the liberal progressives who burned down Sarah Palin’s church right after the 2008 election with people inside the church. Fortunately everyone got out but the Alaskan liberal Progressive Democrat Bastards burned the church down by pouring flamable liquid at all the exits of the church. How Vitriol is that!????

The LIEberals have been advocating violence against conservatives for so long, it is no suprise that they would begin to turn on their own. DUmocrat attempts to paint this LIEberal loser as a "right-wing nut" right away also comes as no suprise. It is also expected that DUh-bama and his minions already are planning to use this incident as fuel to further their agenda and make yet another power grab.

Well, NOT REALLY alone. The Sheriff of Pima County, wherever that is, spoke out against “talk radio hate speech”.
Ms. Giffords is a Democrat. Presumably the people in the crowd were also, and possibly this shooter is some kind of far right wing nutcase.
This is bad news for Second Amendment advocates and bad news for freedom of speech advocates.
You can be SURE we will anti-gun bills generated in Congress as a result of this, and we can be SURE we will see
an initiative to stifle opposition talk shows.
I’m sorry on a personal level for Ms. Giffords suffering and the deaths of 6 bystanders. But I am also sorry for the Conservative Movement as nutcake bastards like this shooter make us look bad and give people like Obama and his acolytes material to throw at us.
This is very bad. Very serious and one of the worst things that could POSSIBLY have happened to us after our resounding victory in November.
I hope that bastard shooter and anyone who may have helped him burn in hell - as soon as possible.

Raul isn’t alone. Reuters just blanketly condemned the right, Tea Party and Sarah for the “atmosphere of vitriol which directly lead to these killings”. I haven’t heard for any call to round up the right wing haters but it’s likely to come. Progressives see this as an opportunity and are using it.
