America changed overnight in a very big way. Based upon election results at this moment, sixty percent of our country will now be led by Republican Governors. That number may grow as a few states with uncertain election results are solidified.
Yesterday, there were 37 Governors races and Republicans won 24 of them. Democrats took only nine, Independents took one and three are too close to call at this moment (Connecticut, Minnesota and Vermont).
This is an absolutely stunning loss for Democrats who, prior to the election, held 26 states to the 24 held by Republicans.
The balance of power has shifted and this will impact the 2012 elections as well as redistricting that will occur in each state as a result of the 2010 Census.
Another benefit may be that Obamacare finds itself under greater pressure some of the states that the Democrats lost may decide to join the ongoing set of lawsuits to defeat Obamacare.
Of the 37 gubernatorial races last night, Republicans won the following (so far):
* Alabama
* Alaska
* Arizona
* Florida
* Georgia
* Idaho
* Iowa
* Kansas
* Maine
* Michigan
* New Mexico
* Nebraska
* Nevada
* Ohio
* Oklahoma
* Oregon
* Pennsylvania
* South Carolina
* South Dakota
* Tennessee
* Texas
* Utah
* Wisconsin
* Wyoming
States which are still held by Republicans:
* Indiana
* Louisiana
* Mississippi
* New Jersey
* North Dakota
* Virginia
This is the kind of change we can believe in! Americans have sent a clear message to the President and all 535 members of Congress.
Although President Obama doesnt appear to have grasped this clear message yet, we will continue to remind those in Congress so that we can return to a government that is of, by and for the people. Those who persist in ignoring the will of the people will feel the results when theyre up for re-election.
The gubernatorial power shift achieved in yesterdays election represents a stunning loss for Democrats and a triumph for the American people.
Today is Jim Robinsons birthday..If you havent donated to FR, today would be a good day to give
The down ticket wins set us up for a magnificent 2012 if the Weasels in Washington do not muck it up.
May we focus on the Senate for a 20 seat pickup in 2012 "20 in 12" should be the mantra to get a super majority. Let us aim high....,
Ohio did it! Now on to 2012!
Michigan had Republicans take the secretary of state, attorney general, governor, state house and state senate.
I am not sure how good Scott will be but I am so glad to not have Sink for four years.
Imagine what the Senate would look like without the 17th Amendment...
The State is on the verge of Chapter 11 and the prognosis is as serious as a heart-attack and will take a real serious chat with the residents to make them see how serious it is. Come to Jesus momemt is coming soon IMHO...
Make them slogg it out and come to real conclusions.
I live in Michigan too. In my county I think the dumbs only won a township clerk post. At least as of 8:00 A.M. I saw something like 70% straight line party vote for Republicans also then.
John Husted-R, won in Ohio!
Does anyone know how many dem Secretaries of State were defeated? It would be great if the Republicans counted the votes for a change.
Looks like Soros’ goal on all these SOS’s just took a huge hit...HA
Republicans gained a lot of governors, I guess I don’t get it, so what? Big deal. When it comes to dealing with the the Iman in the white house, and his cohorts in congress, so what?
Senators and congress critters are our knights in shining armour. Only senators and congress critters can cast their vote on the terribly important issues facing us as a nation.
We shall see where that takes us....
In Pennsylvania, supposedly an irreversibly Democrat state, the Republican candidate for governor won 63 of 67 counties. The House and Senate are now solidly Republican. Republican Pat Toomey beat the Democrat for the U.S. Senate. If Bob Casey, the other senator, were up for re-election this year, he would have been kicked out the door, too
People in Pennsylvania despise Obama. I’m praying they stay that way.
Next year, states will make their electoral districts based on this year’s census. So if you run the state, you can have a big say on who gets elected in 2012.
