The federal investigation of West Virginia Governor and Democratic Senate candidate Joe Manchin's administration is spreading but still not all the way to the mainstream media. What began in August with subpoenas issued in connection with the state's Department of Highways has grown as more subpoenas have been issued for West Virginia's Aviation Division director along with flight logs and records for official government aircraft.

The state media is trying but doesn’t have the reach or resources of the national media which is needed to break through the stonewalling. Somehow I think if Manchin were a Republican, this would be getting much more attention from the major networks and whatever investigative journalists are left at the NY Times and the Washinton Post.

All very good questions. Raese is taking the high road and referring all inquiries to the state GOP who is trying to get the investigation some attention. So far to little avail.

Don’t we have somebody in WV who has access to the television media? John Raese owns some radio stations, but for it to get out there it needs to be on the nightly TV news.

Why does this need nat’l exposure? Two steps out of WV and this info is meaningless. Are there any papers or TV outlets down their? There are about 13 stations and 31 papers.

If the locals are upset their Gov is a crook, they may want to mobilize and start passing pamphlets on the street corners. Why keep relying on the leftest media you hate?

Why do Christine O’Donnell’s personal finances need national exposure? Or Joe Miller’s security team members? Or Rand Paul’s alleged “Aqua Buddah” incident? The national media pounces on these and other “local” issues and use their resources and reach to expose the truth to everyone (including those in the relavent state). Why isn’t a federal investigation of the administrauion of a Governor/US Senate candidate equally worthy of their attention?

And I don’t “hate” the mainstream media. I am frustrated and disappointed with them for abdicating their responsibility to their viewers/readers.

“I am frustrated and disappointed with them for abdicating their responsibility to their viewers/readers.”

This is why I hate the Lamestream. I was not calling you out on your issue here. I just think we need to move past relying on a system stacked against us. My point is the goal of getting this information out to the voters is important to show that the Gov is a crook.

Focusing on that until Tuesday should be the #1 goal to get the R in as Senator. Not lamenting that the people that genuinely despise us have a change of heart and do their jobs.

I agree completely. That's why I'm monitoring the West Virginia media outlets and blogging on any new developments in the investigation.

But I think the lack of major media coverage is a part of the story that also needs to be told. What you see as lamenting, I see as shining a light on a problem.

If Manchin was a Republican this scandal would be the lead story and headline coast to coast.
But Manchin is a Democrat and it is fully expected by everybody that the Democrat newsrooms will protect him.

Let the state-run newsrooms die.
Anybody who cares about the world around them gets their news from the internet anyway.
So just let the dying dinosaur Democrat newsrooms die.
