CNBC: The White House in the spring blocked release of government estimates on the worst-case scenario of the amount of oil that was spewing from BP's well in the Gulf of Mexico, the presidential commission looking into the accident said on Wednesday. (Video Report)

They initially said 5K barrels were leaking a day

Turns out it was more like 55K barrels...

Clearly it is Bush’s fault. After all he has “friends” in the oil business and they set out to deliberately ruin the planet. (Sarcasm added)

Their initial estimate was an order of magnitude low.

In all honesty, in a chaotic situation like this that’s not very surprising.
