Executive Director Eric Grimes of the Churchill Economic Development Authority has confirmed that New Millennium Building Systems purchased the CMC Joist Building and will have a job application fair on Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at the “257 Events Center” at 257 S. Maine St.

Grimes said the sale has been in the works for five months. According to a press release, New Millennium purchased the Fallon CMC property along with two others in Hope, Arkansas and Juarez, Mexico for $17 million.

“With our purchase of these assets, New Millennium will become the nation's second largest provider of steel joists and decking,” Chairman and CEO of Steel Dynamics Keith Busse said in a press release.

Job openings will be in production, maintenance, accounting, sales, safety, engineering, drafting, quality control and shipping. Grimes said the company offers competitive benefits and are very good to their employees.

“They are a fantastic company that is extremely good to their employees,” Grimes said, adding they even give performance bonuses.

I wonder if they bought the SMI Steel plant outside Magnolia, AR. They make steel fence post, rebar and other products from recycled railroad rails.
