I don’t like burning books, and it is blown out of proportion no doubt.. But if we let Islam step on our First Amendment rights, where does it stop? There was a time when America feared no one... Obama needs to go.. We need a real man in the HOUSE.

Book burning is antithetical to American ideals. People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation – much like building a mosque at Ground Zero.

I agree with Governor Palin. We should not be endangering our soldiers at this time.

Regarding Salmon Rushdie, the leftwingtards talked the bookstores and libraries into featuring his book depicting Mohammad’s (otherwise innocent) wives (slaves) as whores, but the Leftwingtards didn’t once volunteer to go to those bookstores and libraries and stand guard lest someone come in to commit an act of violence against the people there.

There is a very small part of me that wants this to escalate thing twenty fold. Let the radical muslims declare fatwa against all non believers, all out war between Muslim vs. Christian. Just to settle it once and for all. I’m sick of jibber jabbering from both sides. Let’s decide this now.

But it will not happen. Want to know why? Muslims know they would get their asses handed to them. They are cowards. But they are also smart. They realize if the liberal agenda is allowed to continue, they can take over without firing a shot. The libs will hand over the keys willingly.

“Indeed. I’ll bet you scolded the danish cartoonist and Salman Rushdie, who subsequently got death fatwas tossed at them.

In fact, there’s a standing fatwa to behead Geerts Wilder, the dutch politician who calls islam out for the garbage it is.

GO FATWA!”

Don’t be a jerk. I fully supported those guys in their right to print what they did. But then, neither of them claimed to represent Christ, as this pastor does. I hold those who claim Christ to a higher standard. We can fight those who want to kill us, but we don’t have to insult every Muslim and close the door to any possibility of winning them for Christ.

Just because others my defile the Bible or religious symbols does not give us the right to act like kids and do the same. This reminds me of kids, he was mean to mean so I am going to be mean to him. The best way to defeat Islam is with the truth, the truth found in the Bible. Don’t lower yourself to their 1st century level.

If this puts them in more danger they should leave those countries because someone somewhere will do something else that will also put them in danger. It’s stupid to walk around on eggshells.

Many are there for the express purpose of winning souls. And while they don't seek death, many are willing to risk death to try to reach the lost. But that doesn't mean we have to make the job more dangerous unnecessarily.

Burning the Koran is a good thing by Bernie Planck

Some people may complain that such an event will only to stir up a hornet’s nest of Muslim outrage and help extremist groups recruit more Jihadists.

Well, actually that’s a good thing for a number of reasons. Let me tell you why.

First of all, Taliban recruiters are already telling lies about America in order to persuade young gullible stupid Muslims to join them. Read the comments from my moderate Muslim readers who make ridiculous statements such as Americans have killed a million Iraqis and Afghanis and that we set dogs on Muslim inmates at Gitmo. It doesn’t matter what the truth is, there will be lies. I doubt this Quran burning will get any more press than the usual fabrications against us.

Second, for Muslims here in the US, it will be a lesson on freedom of expression. We are not Europe, and a simple display of Islamophobia is not yet a crime.

Third, Let Muslims know that we are not intimidated. Let all Ahmeds and Fatimas know that if they keep on provoking us with demands of accommodation, that there will be consequences.

And last: Let the nest be stirred - let every Muslim who is stirred to action join a Jihad now. Why should Jihadists come to the party in dribs and drabs? Let a million all join at once. What is better, to catch a cockroach here and there, from time to time, or to have all of them come out at one time so they they can be squashed once and for all?

I am opposed to burning books - but this is a political statement, and in that regard it is an expression of speech which is of course guaranteed by our Constitution. I would certainly defend with my life any attempt by our government to burn any book, the Quran included. But certainly, if someone needs to tell the world how evil and disgusting Islam is, then this is arguably the only book in the world worthy of a good toasting.

Let it burn. It will be the only time that the Quran shines a light unto the world.

ROTLFLA, I guess Jesus should apologize to the Temple merchants. He destroyed that stuff because those “religious goods” separated themselves from God.

I find this book burning to be a PR stunt made worse by the MSN/certain Generals hissy fits, but to say God will smite those or are “un-Christian like” by defiling pagan books is laughable. Constantine is the patron Saint of pagan destroying wares. Read about His life and all those Church Fathers that were bent on the destruction of pagan worship.

I agree with you 100%. In fact, the left is ginning up this issue in order to divide conservatives and cause dissention within our ranks (and it’s working). We all know this pastor has the right to burn the Koran so why not let it at that? No, we have to jump wildly into the fray and take our focus off what is important: defeating the left in November. Will we ever learn??

That statement is a non-sequiter - it has no logical relationship to the discussion at hand. There is no rational way to get from a position that it is a poor Christian witness for a pastor to be burining a Koran, or the Book of Mormon, or any other religious text, to a statement that we should acquiesce to any attempts to Islamicize our culture.
