And if a stupid book burning brings America to her knees to appease the enemy we are in deep trouble

Where was she when the Army burned the copies of the Holy Bible? But then again, that was only the written Word of God, so who gives a shit?

I agree with Palin. That preacher burns the Koran and some crazy jihadi sets off a car bomb in retaliation. In the end, it is Christians who will be blamed. Our warped media will see to that.

Hmm, the "spiffy/Koran" doctrine at play ~ the mistake you made here is that WE BURN SPIFFIES ~ so why doesn't the Koran get burned too?

You need a different docrine.

Agreed.

I am bothered by this story because I know, not think, KNOW that churches are going to be destroyed and innocent Christians are going to die around the world because of it.

Doesn’t anyone remember the way the Muzzies went freako when the Pope quoted Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus? What do you think they are going to do when the MSM flashes images of a burning Koran around the world?

Yes, they have the freedom to do this, but the level of insanity that is going to be unleashed because of it, worldwide, is just too high.

Hmmmm....it seems that the word has gone out to all the various GOP politicos and bloggers to issue immediate statements and apply even more pressure against this Reverend Jones character and his Koran burning plan.

Mitt Romney: 'Burning the Quran is wrong'

Jones might be a Phelps' loving kook, but I can't say that I agree with Sarah on this one since I want the Muslims to show the world how ugly and hypocritical they can be in view of our 1st Amendment right to protest their nihilistic death cult...so strike the match I say!

The answer to Moslem atrocities commited against Christians isn't to just shut up and hope it goes away ~ they see that as weakness and will get more aggressive.

The only answer for that particular mind pattern is to dismantle the framing bracket into its constituent elements.

Indeed. I’ll bet you scolded the danish cartoonist and Salman Rushdie, who subsequently got death fatwas tossed at them.

In fact, there’s a standing fatwa to behead Geerts Wilder, the dutch politician who calls islam out for the garbage it is.

GO FATWA!

They are burning paper, just paper and some glue big deal. How many times over the years have we seen our Flag burned and defaced in various countries by various Barbarians, and how many paper bibles have been burned in the Mid East over the years, big deal. Burn the dang books, it won’t help any thing or solve a problem but it’s just paper after all.

This idiot pastor is enabling the radical Islamists to condemn Christianity and Judaism and burn our bibles.

They do that anyway, JP.

Is the Military Supposed to Burn Bibles?

Agree.....this is precisely th reason I am in favor of it....and would want any future President to shut his trap when it comes to this.

This is a definite negative for Palin IMO.

We have troops in a muslim nation, the pastor needs to respect the General's wishes.

(though I'd like to burn a pile of 'em)

I agree...I mean, what is the point? What is accomplished by the stunt? It is just a stunt. So you throw down an insult, flip the bird in different way. If you just make someone angry to no effect, that isn’t the same as standing up for yourself, your religion and your way of life. It’s just tossing an insult at them. It’s irrelevant to the matter at hand.

If this puts them in more danger they should leave those countries because someone somewhere will do something else that will also put them in danger. It’s stupid to walk around on eggshells.

That craziness is there in any case, and Moslems release it when they feel like it. Sure, they'll blame you for pulling the trigger, but that's just BS.

Don't buy the lie. They don't like you. They never will like you.

I suppose burning a book can be seen as protected political speech depending on the context, but mainly it’s just burning a book. That this is an international issue is astounding.

Btw most towns stop you from burning anything these days. Global warming.

So never do anything to offend muslims anywhere because they might get mad?

No, actually I disagree because this is ostensibly a Christian minister, and what he is doing is bringing shame on the cause of Christ. We are supposed to love even those who hate us, and should try to win them to Christ. You are not going to win someone by desecrating that which they hold sacred.

In the same way, the GZ mosque can never be a way to improve "cross-cultural understanding", even assuming that really is the desire of the builders. That is because by insisting on building it in that location, the builders are desecrating what we hold to be hallowed ground. Such an act can only inflame anger and hatred, not promote peace and understanding.

Now, I would actually have little problem if this were just a group of citizens making a political statement. But because these people want to do this in the name of Christ, they present Christ as hateful and intolerant to the non-Christian world, a very poor witness indeed. The Christ I serve is not hateful, but loved even those who nailed Him to the cross.

I wish some people who don’t want to follow the Bible would just start their own religion and stop calling themselves Christians.
