Many have pointed out the ways in which Michael Joseph Grosss piece on Palin seems both unfair and under sourced. I wont rehash all of that. Ill just comment on the one section that stood out to me:
The term prayer warrior describes a person who offers a specific kind of supplication: asking God to direct an unseen battle between forces of light and darknessliteral angels and demonsthat some Christians believe is occurring all around us
Whenever I heard Palin speak on the road, her remarks were scored with code phrases expressing solidarity with fundamentalist Christians. Her talk of leading with a servants heart is a dog whistle for the born-again. Her dig at health-care reform as an expression of Democratic ambitions to build a Utopia in the United States is practically a trumpet call (because the Kingdom of God is not of this earth, and perfection can be achieved only in the life to come). But it is Palins persistent encouragement of the prayer warriors that most clearly reveals her worldview: she is good, her opponents are evil, and the war is on.
Having read this dismissive account of Palins faith, it surprised me to see Mr. Gross on television claiming he has a lot in common with Palin, including Christianity. It reminds me of that old car commercial This is not your fathers Oldsmobile. Well, Michael Gross is not your fathers Christian.

I got his “code” right here: “Professing to be wise, they became fools.” Romans 1:22
Wow! We have a code! Funny thing is, if that’s true, we tell everyone the password. :-D
Excellent synopsis.
Many Christian's even have this misrepresented view of concentrating on the aspect of having to know God to get into good graces when the Word actually teaches God has to know YOU.
We saw a small sampling of her servant's heart when she was applying makeup to Dave Roever before his interview with Glenn beck on Friday...
Michael Joseph Gross was raised in Illinois, went to Williams College and Princeton Theological Seminary, and worked as chief speech writer for Massachusetts Governor William Weld. He has written about culture, religion, politics, design, technology and travel for Vanity Fair, GQ, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Atlantic, the Nation, Elle Décor, and many other magazines and newspapers....blah, blah, blah... link
Not that there's anything wrong with that...
Christians don’t write “anonymous sourced” hate pieces about fellow Christians or anyone else, do they, and certainly not for personal gain, right?
Obviously, he didn’t learn anything and especially about scripture and what it reveals in so many ways. He’s more than likely a Sunday “Nod to G_D” attendee.
Exactly, if he attends at all, and he might, ala Bill Clinton, carrying a Bible for all to see.
Just heard it said on the radio - the guy’s a homo.
“an unseen battle between forces of light and darknessliteral angels and demonsthat some Christians believe is occurring all around us”
The Manichean Heresy has a long history in the Church, but a heresy it is.
“We celebrate the fact that were out to the straight world, even though the only thing that means, in many cases, is that they know were gay.
“When we logged on, I dont think most of us realized we were creating new secret lives. I dont think we knew what we were getting into. But we got into it. For most of us, this is not working. And if its not working for you, then its time to get off.”
- Michael Joseph Gross, in an Out Magazine story titled Has Manhunt Destroyed Gay Culture?
We need more Sarah Palins.
..and a nasty snarky one too!
Is this the guy that rented the house right next door?
Beat you to it! One look at his photo was all it took for me.
