As a former drug & alcohol abuse counselor, I see reflected in Glenn Beck the same mindset that destroyed many of my clients - a mystical belief they must surrender to the collectivists of AA to save themselves instead of using their God given ability to reason their way to complete recovery.

Therefore, what I saw Saturday wasn’t a prayer meeting, it was a massive AA meeting.

No doubt the next thing Beck will be telling us next that we are all suffering from the “disease” of socialism, and that we must attend his “meeting” daily if we are to be in “recovery” (never recovered) from the disease of socialism.

Beck, for all of his American Revolution preaching, seems to have missed its central thesis which was that man should use his God given ability to individual reason and not the sanction of a “group consiousness.”

In effect, Beck says that a “mystical collectivist conciousness” is needed to oppose “socialist mystical consiousness” - I’d say Beck’s cure is worse than the disease.

Yes, Beck, like most AA Nazis, is creepy.

Perhaps you have a better opinion of Obama?

I didn’t hear what you did.

Beck Derangement Syndrome.

Started here in FR in 2010.

1. Beck is not running for office
2. Beck is not asking for your vote or your money
3. Beck called for an Honor America rally and a lot of people came.
4. You are demeaning that rally (and all those people, did you read any of their comments, those who actually went?) and downgrading all those people to AA collectivists (whatever the f* that even means)
5. You are basically saying that all those people who went to that rally to support AMERICA didn’t really go for that reason and they all need to come to YOU to find out the REAL reason they went to the rally

Thank You for being honest.

As a former.

BTW I am not a fan of AA or anyother group sob story.

You obviously know nothing about AA. It is also obvious that you have never met someone who has had a spiritual awakening as a result of the steps.

Wow... I didn’t get that impression at all. What I saw was Hundreds of thousands of Americans standing shoulder to shoulder together in a common cause of wanting to stop this country from losing its core values.

I think it was about Glenn Beck. And that’s a shame.

Thats the criticism ? And I happen to think your linked article is ALL about the author Alan Caruba (is that you?)

BTW, I have no idea whatsoever why he/you has a bug up his a$$ about Beck, given that he made no incitement to violence or really did anything whatsoever objectionable, although you/he did go out of his way to mention all the white people there. Sheesh.

Wow, you must have been a crappy counselor - telling them to rely on the same person who got them into the mess (themselves). Are you by any chance agnostic or atheist?

Do you understand that A.A. has a better track record for long-term sobriety than any other option out there?

I guess you'd rather folks surrender to the singular will of yourself than to a God with all power. You obviously committed a cardinal sin for a "counselor"; you have no idea of what the other programs are really doing.

Wow, I listened and what I got was individual responsibility is what is needed.

Beck said yesterday in his interview w/Chris Wallace, that his God theme was like the thinking that influenced the Founders. Example:

Benjamin Franklin: “ God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this. I also believe that, without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel” –Constitutional Convention of 1787

Clearly you have a problem, perhaps Beck Derangement Syndrome. I love Becks heart, and would stand with him, arms locked against anyone who chooses to attack him.

I thought the 8.28 rally and Friday evenings event at the Lincoln Center, nothing short of beautiful and inspirational. It certainly beats listening to Obama and his cast of clowns repeatedly lie to the country everyday.

You are a dyslexic Nucking Fut.

To call Beck a collective is insane.

Don’t quite have the take on this you do.

I agree that AA comes across as collectivist.

And I do agree that Beck appears to do a large part of his events and TV/radio show as one giant therapy session (for him).

But he’s not creepy. He’s just someone that provides TMI about his problems to his audience.

Um, what?????

This rally was about the individual. Glenn encouraged everyone to dig deep & do the right thing THEMSELVES. He talked on & on about how our nation was founded on the idea of individual’s empowerment and how we as individuals hold the power to make our mation better. But that that has to start with each of us individually.

My guess is that you haven’t watched the rally or listened to Beck’s actual words.

Please don’t equate whatever Beck does with AA. He is just one man.

While I am not a Beck follower, I do watch the show and saw the C Span coverage of the rally.

Apparently, you did not, because everything you said was in direct contradiction to things Glenn Beck actually said both in the rally and on his show.

So, that makes you a troll.

Thank you. I had the same observations. Problem is Beck is a mouthpiece not a leader. Trading on addiction for another - of any kind - does not solve your problems

I see reflected in you why so many secular ‘drug & alcohol abuse’ programs fail. Elitest.

Hey, check out the big brain on Ronbo. Having to fit that huge brain in a normal size human cranium must give you excruciating headaches. So what's your plan to save the nation. . .none?. . that's what I thought. ..so maybe a "thanks for the effort, Glen" might be more appropriate?
