I would argue for onshore drilling which is much safer than drilling in 5000 feet of water. Open ANWR!!!

..wrong....the debate will simply give Congress reason to drag out what has always been the problem. Must always rely on foreign oil to keep prices high to keep TAX revenue on such oil HIGH......don't allow drill here, drill now period!!

And many other things that gummint knows nothing about. Watch for congressional hearings with idiots like Patrick Leahy quizzing oilfield experts on the design of blow-out protectors...

And more meddling in the capitalist system will inevitably follow.

Like Rush said, the smartest thing Obama could have done is call and ask Sarah Palin and her husband for their help. One more thing our manchild POTUS has no experience or expertise in.

Should have dropped a nuke in the well. Would have stopped the oil flow by fusing the rock and collapsing the well. Radiation from FFF bombs only last 2 weeks.

Coal mines collapse, Oil rigs explode, power plants have accidents, refineries bury. If we have to wait until all power production is 100% safe, we will never had any US domestic energy production ever.

But then, that the real goal of the Progressive Fascists running DC now isn't it?

I just found this...found it via USGC!

In-Situ Burn Fire Systems: MSRC owns and maintains 10 fire boom systems
(one within each RRT as an alternative response “tool in the toolbox”).

more... 3 fireboom systems in the gulf:

MSRC has acquired equipment from the Marine Industry Resource Group (MIRG), a cooperative in the Gulf of Mexico. It included eight skimming systems and three fire boom systems.

Some countries will accept the risks that go along with oil production, they’ll develop the expertise for dealing with problems and accidents, and those will be the countries that get the big bucks.

If that doesn’t include us, then we’ll get to continue shipping boatloads of cash to the countries who will, putting their people to work and funding their national budgets, forever. I realize that in the Obama era half a trillion a year doesn’t sound like much, but think what that would do if we spent that money putting our own people to work and funding our own treasury. Pay that money into our own pockets and this economy would turn around so quick our necks would snap.
