Someone told me that Robert Downey Jr. is a Republican. Anyone know if it is true?

Someone told me that Robert Downey Jr. is a Republican. Anyone know if it is true? Because of your question, I read Downey's Wiki entry, and buried at the very bottom, after all of his documented drug convictions (interesting read, actually,) was this:
Downey has indicated that his time in prison changed his political point of view somewhat, saying: I have a really interesting political point of view, and its not always something I say too loud at dinner tables here, but you cant go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal. You cant. I wouldnt wish that experience on anyone else, but it was very, very, very educational for me and has informed my proclivities and politics ever since.[91] In a 2007 interview with W magazine Downey showed the journalist a photograph of himself and his wife with President George W. Bush.[90]

Highly doubtful, imho. I was on the floor of the 1992 GOP Convention in Houston TX. Downey showed up for a "documentary" that he was filming. I personally witnessed him attempt to disrupt the Convention during President Bush's address by pulling out a BIG placard reading "VOTE FOR THE GOAT" and jumping up and down in front of the Presidential viewing box, where Mrs. Bush (Barbara) and a good number of the Bush family were present.
A bunch of College Republicans swarmed him. He seemed to be rather ... displeased.
However, he could have undergone a conversion in the nearly 20 years since then.
