Someone told me that Robert Downey Jr. is a Republican. Anyone know if it is true?

Highly doubtful, imho. I was on the floor of the 1992 GOP Convention in Houston TX. Downey showed up for a "documentary" that he was filming. I personally witnessed him attempt to disrupt the Convention during President Bush's address by pulling out a BIG placard reading "VOTE FOR THE GOAT" and jumping up and down in front of the Presidential viewing box, where Mrs. Bush (Barbara) and a good number of the Bush family were present.

A bunch of College Republicans swarmed him. He seemed to be rather ... displeased.

However, he could have undergone a conversion in the nearly 20 years since then.

There are about 3 popular actors I will trust. 2 are English, one is Welsh.

1. Michael Caine - is pro-Tory because he has said the UK has been ruined. He also complained that he gets up early in the morning to work to get taxed over 50% to gove to people who do not work. Plus I have always liked him.

2. Gary Oldman - Was enraged when he was in a movie playing a Repub Senator and the directors changed some things making it propaganda. He character was actually a good guy in the end. His career was almost ruined because he spoke out. His work since then has been largely been with British directors.

3. Christian Bale - Kind of a hot head jerk. His step mother was Gloria Steinem. One night she was spewing her agenda, moralizing and he blew up and said “will some please shut this woman up!” T4 was supposedly fairly lib so he he could be a lib.

Alternatives:
Russell Crowe - Good actor and never heard him talk about politics.

Kurt Russell - not a big name anymore but he claims to be libertarian but he seems pretty conservative to me.

This is interesting. I found it on dimewars.com:

"Fast forward to 2010, Robert Downey Jr, took charge of his life and turned it around to become one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood. Robert Downey Jr. indicated time in prison has changed his outlook on life and his political views, saying: “I have a really interesting political point of view, and it’s not always something I say too loud at dinner tables here, but you can’t go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal.”
