Bambi Is A Pest Bambi Is A Pest

Raleigh Constituent visits the new North Carolina Department Of Agriculture website.

Dear John Jacob;

Steve Troxler is a great Agriculture Commissioner and I like his ideas.

But Moose Droppings (CLICK LINK HERE) has found a AgDept. idea that may need some tweaks before it is ready for primetime.

Everyone (outside the Wildlife Commission!) agrees NC wildlife management has reached farcical levels.

Crows can only be shot on Wednesdays,Fridays and Saturdays from June through February. Fox Squirrels from October 12 to December 31, Grey and Red from October 1 to February 13 etc, etc, etc.

So enter Commissioner Troxler with a website to link eager hunters to farmers eager to eliminate nuisance depredation animals from their fields.

Intriguing. Who trumps in a head to head between Agriculture and Wildlife Resources?

Best regards to all,

Interesting. When I lived in South Carolina, if your occupation was listed as 'farmer', you could hunt whitetails year 'round. That and the regular season ran from mid-August through December (no limit on bucks).

There was no such thing as a squirrel season. It was just customary not to hunt them until after the first frost.

Don't recall anything about crows.

NC kinda sticks out like a blue thumb these days, doesn’t it.

That is an understatement. But NC is the most arrogant state I have ever lived in. It has also been infiltrated by Northeasterners who bring their own arrogant elitism along with their taxes. Cannot wait to get out of here! What? A budget shortfall.. bring on another “temporary” sales tax! O, did I mention the previous temp tax from years ago is still there? Imagine that.

A few years ago, we were thinking of relocating there. I’m glad now that we didn’t. It doesn’t seem like much of an improvement over California.

I forgot to mention an influx of Californians moving here. LOL. It is a very expensive and liberal bastion of the Southeast! I am thinking.. GA, TX, FL, myself. Almost done here anyway. If that doesn’t work out.. maybe take a coupla weeks and visit Costa Rico and look for work this fall. The kids have almost flown the nest and I am ready for something different.

My sister moved there and loves it because “people aren’t allowed (in their little mini-estate neighborhoods) to paint their house any color they want or leave their Christmas decorations up till spring”...

She thought it was great until they got a letter telling them to either sell their junk car (which they still used) or hide it in the garage out of sight. !!!
They have one new car and keep the clunker as a back-up; so-after much inner reflection, she realized ‘they’ were right and so they are now buying a NEW car so they can have a second “good looking” car....

INSANITY.

LOL homegroan... Soo your sister is a Lib? This is classic lib mentality. Family.. seesh. At least you have entertaining family meetings, although i am sure it must be hard to keep from bringing logic into the discussion. I greatly dislike NC... am counting the days until I move. Ok, it’s more like years. On the other hand, sometimes I think we should take a stand in some places like Cali, NC and a few other places that are going to the libs.

I find that they like the fact that they have fewer choices therefore less thinking to do.

They just follow the rules...I honestly cannot imagine not being able to paint my house any color I want.

I don’t even talk to them about anything political...I can only hope to rescue my nephew’s minds.

I feel for you having to live there!

The complete Regulations guide is online as a PDF.

A veritable blizzard of regulations.

Best regards,
