Flag at Half Mast
Resurrected Life With Christ ^ | 3/22/10 | Chuck Ness

Posted on 03/22/2010 10:04:54 AM PDT by OneVike

Yesterday morning when I raised my flag to the top of the 25 foot pole I have in my front yard, I must have forgotten to tie it off. Why else would my flag be at half mast when I returned from giving my sermon at Windchime? A few hours later the House of Representatives passed the Senate's version of Obama's Health Care legislation. Prophetic? I think so, and that is why I will leave it at half mast until I feel it is time to return it to full mast. It is my opinion that we are in the end times of what has been called the greatest civilization the world has ever seen. Yes, I believe America is finished. I say so because I do not foresee the Republicans ever reversing this, nor do I see the Supreme Court reversing it. I pray I am wrong, but I fear I am not because we have turned our back on God. In doing so, He has turned His back on us as a nation. We cannot continue doing the many things we do and keep expecting Him to smile upon us.

As an historical and political enthusiast I tend to look at certain aspects of the end times prophecies in a different light than many dispensationalists and futurists. I look at the time we live in as being dominated by the "Rule of the People?. Whether it be under democratic socialism or democratic capitalism, it is still a system ruled by the people. This egalitarian type of political rule allows for many absurd and dangerous aspects of society to flourish that could not survive in a totalitarian system.

A cursory look at the way Cuban dictator, Castro dealt with those afflicted with AIDS compared to how we deal with them in Democratic societies will make my point. Cubans who have AIDS are locked away in institutions to keep them from infecting the general population. While in America and Western Europe we champion the very act, homosexuality, that spreads the sickness in the name of freedom. We also allow the dreaded disease to promulgate through out our society by teaching our children in school that homosexuality is a lifestyle that is equal to heterosexuality. It is important to understand that Christ will not return because governments make us bad people. He will return because we have willingly refused to turn from our evil ways and follow His teachings.

Many people, even many conservatives, do not wish to accept this truth. However, the very things that are going on all around us just proves my point, and it's my opinion things will just get worse. I also fear that the next move by the tyrannical left will be a full frontal attack on Christianity. An attack that will attempt to force Christians to stop preaching the truths of the Bible. Like Canada and some European countries, we too will see conservative evangelicals charged with hate crimes against homosexuals that will set the state against the church. What will make this coming attack easier, is the way we are now seeing denominations after denominations allowing practicing Homosexuals to be ordained ministers by claiming God does not condemn the lifestyle so why should we.

Yesterday America died, and in honor and respect for what she once stood for I shall fly my flag at half mast. When God moves me to raise it I will. Unfortunately I do not see that happening anytime soon.

I have often times said that I cannot and will not separate my religious views from my political views. Today is a perfect example of what I mean.

Article Ping!

I could not let what happened yesterday go by without commenting on it. So I wrote an article I titled Flying My Flag at Half Mast.

Now, I am going back to the river to see if I can catch the California Brown Trout that got away from me last week.

I was once a cadet at the AF Academy (’73, except I left in ‘71). I spent a lot of time hanging with the enlisted guys (probably that was my problem), and there was this one guy who used to work around the Chapel, and he would answer tourist questions. He was going to write a book with all his experiences, although I never saw it. One day a lady asked him, “Why is the flag at half mast.” He said, “I’m sorry, its not at half mast.” She said, “Well its half way down the pole.” He replied, “In the Navy its half mast. In the Air Force, its half staff.” She said, “Thats interesting. I have a grandson in the Army. Whats it called in the Army?” He replied, “Half stick.”

I don’t have a flag outside, but I’m wearing solid black all week, in mourning for my once-great nation. I did the same thing the week Zero was elected.

You fly fish? I will on the Feather, just below the area where the Lake Orovilles overflow goes into the Feather.

Never had the pleasure of fly fishing (though I have a fly rod - I use it for trolling at Eagle Lake).

Well, I am not the greatest Fly Fisher, but I could help you get the idea of it and get you started on the right path. Maybe we should get together and give it a try.

My back yard is good sized enough to give a person room to practice casting. Like I said, we need to get together for a good BBQ.

Where do I find one. I could fly it below Old Glory and my Christian Flags.

If I have the room. My flag is up 25 ft, but I am not sure that is enough room above my roof for another flag to properly fly.

Besides, what is the protocol for the number of flags allowed on one pole? Any one know?

Sounds like a plan - though, I’m thinking I should wear heavy protective clothing when I attempt to use the fly rod - hooks in the neck are painful I understand.

LOL, Yes they are, but if you have ever tried using a whip you will find that hitting yourself is not nearly as easy as you think.

I stopped flying mine on Jan 21 2009.

I started flying the Gadsden Flag that day and will fly it while 0bama occupies the White House. The Stars and Stripes with 13 stars flies only on Memorial Day.

I have a Gonzales Flag ready, because eventually the Socialist Democrats will realize that they need a disarmed population to achieve their goals.

I have had my Gadsden flag flying all weekend.

Also, Today marks the 245 anniversary of the passing of The Stamp Act. It was repealed one year later, however the spark of the American Revolution was ignited. In this most timely hour, let us learn from our history, let us learn from the ways of the Sons of Liberty, let us be heartened by their example.
