A rousing primary that featured a cast of characters ranging from Sarah Palin to George H.W. Bush to Glenn Beck comes to a dramatic conclusion
It was no surprise that former Houston Mayor Bill White won the Democrat nomination for Governor handily despite a slew of contenders. The shocker was how easily incumbent Governor Rick Perry dismantled both U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and upstart Tea Party favorite Debra Medina in a highly publicized and viciously fought contest.

onward soldiers...you picked your candidate now support him and get him elected....
“GREAT CEASAR’S GHOST!”
Once again, Medina was no 'tea party favorite' nor a tea party candidate. Just because Keith Olbermann declares you a tea party candidate doesn't make you one. They just look for the strangest, third tier candidate who has zero chance of winning and proclaim that person the 'tea party' candidate so they can write the headlines the next morning 'tea party loses'. The Tea Party rallies I attended and saw had scant representation for Medina, a couple of signs here and there. Most supported Perry who has been speaking to tea parties for over a year.
It was probably pretty easy, actually. He didn't vote for bailouts, and he isn't a Rondementalist Troofer.
That being said, here's wishing that the actual Tea Partiers had gotten on the same page early on and rallied behind a truly conservative candidate, instead of letting a pro-gay marriage, pro-drug legalisation Troofer nutcase steal their label.
There, I fixed it ; )
Conservatives complain about the political class, but they really just want the same-old, same-old. The right focus grouped words from a familiar face is all that is required to get elected. All you can say for Perry substantively is that he is better than White or KBH.
This TEA Party guy did not ever get a good feeling on Medina, thus my vote did not go to her.
I took no joy in voting for Perry but didn't have to cast that vote through clinched-teeth and chug maalox after like I did with my McCain vote the last time I was in the voting booth.
Note to the GOP: It is getting old having to cast my vote for the "best candidate on the ballot" rather than for the best electable candidate for the position.
Perry had competition.
White was running against no-names with no hope of winning the Dem primary.
So the obliteration of Dem candidates by White is very misleading.
Only according to Medina.
"Self Styled" favorite is more like it.
Unfortunately, Kay Bailey Hutchison cuddled up to the America destroyer, socialist, POTUS Barack Hussein Obama. Working and supporting Barack Hussein Obama is the political kiss of death for any Republican Hutchison, Crist, etc. and for that matter any Democrat also. Read the recent election returns folks, the truth is in the numbers. Sorry, Kay, but you did this to yourself. The only salvation you will have is you will be surrounded be people like yourself that sold your soul to the devil (Obama) for political expediency, Republican & Democrat alike!!! Take heed members of congress, November, 2010 is just around the corner.
Friend, Mayor Bill White has about as much chance of becoming the Governor or Texas then I have of eating swiss cheese on the moon. For your info, the Republicans cast 1,476,411 in the Governor primary race. The Democrats cast 627,340 votes in the Governor primary race. That is a difference 849,071 votes in favor of the Republicans. Bill White is toast before the campaign begins. And.....if Democrats across the country had any brains, they would take heed. Backing Obama on anything is political poison!!!
Asked about gay marriage, she said she believes marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman with God at the center.
While she supports some libertarian ideas and has been a longtime supporter of Representative Ron Paul, the Texas libertarian, she hastens to point out that she is not in favor of legalizing drugs.
More:
Mrs. Medina does not believe that legalizing drugs is the answer, but she is willing to discuss other methods of attacking this problem. Drug crimes and drug usage wreak havoc on our society and if there is a better approach to handling this problem, Mrs. Medina welcomes the discussion. The discussion isn't over making drugs legal, but more, what can we do as a society to get a better handle on these issues. Her message of allowing Texans to decide their own drug laws has been misconstrued and distorted. She does not advocate legalizing illegal drugs, she advocates discussing this issue and working to resolve the negative effects that drugs have on our society.
And an FYI for you Perry supporters, he holds the exact same position Medina does on drugs:
Western Governors agree that states, not the federal government, are in the best position to understand the myriad of drug related issues facing their citizens and to initiate and implement drug policy strategies that will combat the substance abuse problems facing their communities.
As for the idiotic "truther" argument, which has absolutely nothing to to with governing Texas, I am sick to death of the "well if she didn't outright deny it then it must be true" meme. It is totally bogus. Even Glenn Beck said back in September of last year on one of his shows that there were still legitimate questions unanswered about 9/11. What Medina said was that there were some legitimate questions about 9/11 left unanswered and that everyone has the right to question the Government.
I also agree with that premise, and would even add that there was an orchestrated effort on the part of certain entities in the Government to lie and obstruct the investigation to cover up their own incompetence as has been publicly admitted by the 911 investigators, but that does not make me a "truther" by any stretch of the imagination.
Essayons! I second your emotion. We’d better start getting some candidates to vote FOR.
Yes, Perry received about a quarter of a million more votes in his primary than did Bill White.
Medina was outed as a truther, right? In my book, that dqs her as a real Tea Party person. Sick of the “Medina was the TEA Party candidate” meme. Of course, the LSM needs to show a loss by the TEA Party, so we’ll keep seeing it...
Blaming the voters is an old and tired game played by the know-nothings, do-nothings.
We vote according to the available candidates. We choose among them who we like most or dislike least. If you don't like the choices why don't you run yourself? Then we can evaluate you in comparison to the rest.
Until the, take a big long drink of STFU!
