You can't really understand CPAC from what you see on TV. First of all only some of the speeches were covered. Even if they were all covered, the speeches in the main ballroom are only part of the program. There are other speakers, movies and presentations going on throughout the building. To really understand the mood and tone of CPAC, you really need to walk the halls, speak to the attendees watch the movies etc. Its one of the things most of the people who covered the event tried to do.
Mike Huckabee, however is special, he didn't attend the event, nor did he see all the speeches, speak to the attendees, or walk through the exhibit hall, but he knows all about CPAC and he didn't like it.

So Huckabilly doesn’t like the TEA Party movement? I guess that would figure since he raised taxes in Arkansas.

I am one Freeper who has been less than enthused about the Huckster, but I'll bet you are right about that.
Knowing Huckabee's social conservative values, something was left out of that article and it would be his distaste for the GOPProud.
Which, BTW, I agree with (his distaste for GOPProud that is.)

But I bet he shows up at the Redneck Leadership Conference.

I’ve been ripping it for letting Ron Paul win the straw poll, epic FAIL... and letting gay activists shout down a speaker. Not something I would be a part of.

Huckabee’s foolish reckelessness got those 4 cops killed —he should be in charge of a cub-scout troop and no more.
IDIOT, and can’t hold a candle to Paul Harvey.

The more he talks, the more I am not liking him.
Methinks the money he is making is causing his head to implode with foot-in-mouth disease.

You could add the fact that Birchers were co-hosts (uggg)... so you have conspiracy theorists in on the act. Maybe why Paul won.

Well Huckabee knows at least two things. CPAC had Gay sponsors and of those that voted 1/3 supported Ron Paul.
Those both support Huckabee’s contention that CPAC is not conservative but rather libertarian.

Where is the AP photo of him with a big piece of pie and two scoops of ice cream in front of him when spouted off?

Absurd!! Mike Huckabee Rips CPAC Conference He Did Not Attend Why, that's almost as comical as websites who "boycott" CPAC when it's been a few years since they've even had a booth there!

You are twisting his words to say the exact opposite of what he said. I'm no big fan of Huckabee, but he complimented the Tea Party movement basically saying they had replaced CPAC as the gathering spot for conservatives, while CPAC has become the gathering spot for libertarians.

Most people here don’t read the text they just foam incoherent reactions based on their bias. Take note I said ‘most,’ not all.

Yup. Like I said, I'm not a Huckabee fan and don't want him anywhere near the White House unless he's there to pick dog poop off the lawn; however, he had some valid points. There are numerous conservatives who avoided CPAC this year including Mark Levin, Bill Bennett, and Sarah Palin. CPAC allowed a booth by a gay group. David Keene was exposed at the CPAC event last year by John Ziegler. Sure, some great conservatives were there this year, but it is certainly not the "heart and soul" of the conservative movement.
