Michael Moore, independent filmmaker and perennial critic of the Bush administration, has criticized the Obama administration for its response to the Haiti earthquake by saying the administration response is clunky and focused largely on Americans in Haiti. Moore also criticized the Obama administration for failing to respond to the offer of the The National Nurses Union to send 12,000 nurses to Haiti calling the lack of response "distressing" and goes so far as to compare President Obama to President Bush...
In an interview with Democracy Now, Michael Moore criticized the Obama administration response to Haiti as "clunky" and distressing. (Emphases mine)
...MICHAEL MOORE: But the response from the—our government is once again this sort of, you know, clunky “we’re too big”—you know the saying “we’re too big to fail.” This is like “we’re too big to succeed.” That’s what it feels like. Now, I will say this: Obama immediately, within hours, trying to pull the apparatus together and put it into motion, was in marked contrast to what we saw during Katrina and other events during the Bush years. By the second and the third day, when no, you know, real help had arrived, and the concern turned, you know, mostly to how are the Americans doing there, the Americans at the embassy, the Americans at the Montana Hotel, etc., etc.—and naturally, of course, I mean, it’s human nature to care about your own first, but I would hope, by this point, that we’re in a place where we just care about everybody and that we don’t see ourselves as more human or more worthy of life.

There was no special obama or US embassy concern for Americans, especially those at the Hotel Montana- the rescue operation there was mounted by the French
Families have been interviewed, some had members on the scene for an entire week with no US govt leadership in any rescue efforts, though one US volunteer rescue team did help in the French led efforts
“Sicko” needs to stuff a donut in it.
It seems an insurmountable tasks but the US is doing its level best.
There’s really no room for this type of criticism right now IMHO.
A third world nation, isolated, destroyed infrastructure, no heavy equipment, just an overall horrible situation.
We will be there a while. The sadness I feel for those people and the suffering is not something I can express in words.

I just watched that 1/2 hour interview. One thing I liked that he said is he is positive Michigan will get a Republican governor in the fall election. I sure hope he’s right. He also thinks Bernake, Summer, and Geitner should go.

I will believe the 0bama administration has a fervent and true interest in Haitian success when I see the names of the 0bamas, Bidens and cabal on checks sent to Haitian relief. With their millions, Port au Prince could be remade in weeks. Ditto for the howlingly weird entertainment crowd, dripping with compassion on cue.
