The Muffled Oar first broke the story of Obama astroturfing back in October 2009. The Blog Squad was tasked with using the brigade of bloggers to support DOJ policies. The astroturfing could be done either inside Justice or by friends one step removed from Justice. Now the web is abuzz about the phony pro-Obama astroturfing by Ellie Light. Could this be a photo of Ellie Light (and two famous friends)?

Wish there were easier ways to trace IP addresses—ANYONE can sign up as “Ellie Light” or “Mark Spivey” and post as them.No way for us non-techies to know if it’s the ‘real’ person or not.

I went to the site and was rewarded with a picture of two women and a guy, none of whom was identified as either “Ellie Light” or as famous friends.
I guess you have to be a Washington insider to identify these people from just a picture. What a waste of time.
