I think this is only 1/2 of it. I read that he rented the two adjacent homes for friends and family. Including the costs of housing the secret service and staff, we could be looking at $20K + per night, just for accomodations (not including transportation, food, etc.).

All this while he could stay in DC for nothing, or at least fly to his beloved Chicago to spend the Holidays.

That's just for for one night and just for one place, he rented two others homes for friends, family. Add the abundance of food for all of them for fourteen days, drinks, cooks, maid service, a pine tree flown in from the mainland, cost of activities, air flights for all of them, etc.

At least a quarter of a million is my conservative guess.
