With the recent exposure of damning emails among the Climate Research Unit staff at the University of East Anglia, the world now knows what many global warming skeptics have suspected all along: the fix is in. Over years of “research,” facts were omitted, others were exaggerated. Methodologies were adopted that understated the decline in global temperatures, while those that indicated rising temperatures were given prominent place. Even in the most sacred precincts of science, Truth was made whore to politics. And in the end, the entire notion of man-made climate change is justifiably suspect.
But has that malfeasance shamed the touts of global warming into a humbled, branded silence? Are they withdrawing their radical demands for taxes and penalties on so-called emitters, in the name of saving the planet? Have they even backed off their claims of absolute certainty, let even the slightest doubt play into their equation?
No. The faith endures intact, unassailed by conventions of shame and honor.
Because the fact is, an empire is being built around the fiction of Climate Change, and the fear generated by that myth is the lever that will shift the balance of wealth in the world. Far more than any ridiculous idea that Man is responsible for warming the earth, that is what drives the Climate Change crusade.
International socialism has long been the (un)Holy Grail of a cabal of European elitists, starting with Karl Marx but flourishing under champions like Leon Trotsky, Herbert Marcuse, Antonio Gramsci, and collectives like the Fabian Society and the Frankfurt School. With the fall of the Soviet Union, the Free World mistakenly thought that the specter of socialism had been exorcised, that the world had finally rid itself of the tortured ideology that had been the source of so much misery. A light was finally lit behind the Iron Curtain and for the first time in generations, free trade flowed in the gray streets of Budapest, Prague, St. Petersburg, and even Moscow.
But although its most visible bulwark had fallen, the madness itself thrived. Its apostles simply dispersed around the world like the down of a thistle, seeking other gardens to infest. They found fertile soil in the West, a decadent, uncertain culture desperately trying to shed its colonial image and gain entry into Continental drawing rooms. Like a cloddish freshman stumbling over himself in subservience to his perceived betters, American academe cozened up to the Frankfurters and Gramscians and begged to carry their gospel to the unenlightened natives of the Occidental hinterlands.
Lacking a geographical home, the repository for the movement had to become ideological, something like the Jewish faith became after the Diaspora. However, unlike Judaism, which transmitted eons of accumulated wisdom and thought to a people without a country, socialism infiltrated cultures around the globe, agitating against common sense and planting seeds of post-modernism that choked out the traditions of the past.
But like all religions, socialism needed an icon, and the icon needed a god. A mediocre intellect from Tennessee emerged as its unlikely Messiah, a bland mannequin on which the New Age could drape its vestments. A dullard with no credentials in environmental sciences, Al Gore was nominated for and won a Nobel Prize for his groundbreaking advocacy on ecological issues. Mother Nature had her swain, the socialists had their cause, and the masses had their plastic Jesus.
With a skill honed from years of political and cultural activism, the “green” pushers rapidly insinuated their dogma into all our cultural venues: education, entertainment, commerce, even churches. Today, you can’t buy dish soap, snow tires, or aftershave that doesn’t play up an eco-angle. A feigned concern for “our Earth mother” has driven consumers to dig deeper for “organic” produce, accept paper products made from substandard recycled trash, pay extra for bottled water, sort through their garbage, and in general, open the wallets to whatever extortion arises from an enhanced eco-consciousness.
But the Green Movement goes beyond mere profiteering. In proposing cap-and-trade “carbon credit,” it creates an apparatus to extract wealth from developed nations and divert it to the Third World, all based on the judgment of some ill-defined, unelected, supra-national Sanhedrin. It promotes the United Nations into a sort of earth conscience, penalizing certain nations for their industry and way of life while rewarding or exempting others, particularly those that have historically lagged behind economically, technologically, and culturally.
Such a body is the ultimate dream of the international socialist community. Once it can erase borders and compromise national sovereignty, it si but a small step to imposing its unmandated, autocratic demands across the globe. It can enrich itself and its backwater allies at the expense of the civilized world, using the money to ostensibly improve conditions in the Land of the Have-Nots, but siphoning enough away to build a few castle walls of its own. Nations will set their domestic policies based on the whims of “scientific” bodies like the CRU, with severe financial – and even military – consequences for the recalcitrant. Mother Nature’s nanny will take the bad boys over her knee.
The Copenhagen Conference that started today is just a dry run. There, a host of posers and presumptuous preeners will pretend to determine the fate of mankind, albeit a fate that can be significantly altered if the right money changes hands. Regardless of the outcome, it is unlikely that such a high-profile event, attended by the crème-de-la-crème of ecological superegos, will ever admit to any flaws in its thesis. It has become a juggernaut, the opening act in a New World Order, and the vast machinery behind it will not let anything so puny as Truth get in its way.
Truth has never been important to the socialist ideology. It is nothing more than a tool to destroy the existing order, to create doubt and uncertainties that lead to fear and ultimate compliance.
Green is not a color anymore. It is more than an industry. It has become the rallying cry, the banner under which the Old Order must be crushed and a brave new world implemented. If the liberties of a few overfed Americans fall under its shadow, well, every revolution pays a price in blood.
Worst of all, this strategy casts the doubters and dissenters as not only buffoonish, but enemies of mankind. It’s a trick Joe Stalin learned well: people hesitate to act on an idea, but if you make them own the consequences, they own the deed. So the rhetoric runs something like this: “In their zealous defense of antiquated notions of independence, Climate Change skeptics are refusing to pay their debt to the world. They continue to abuse the planet we ALL have to live on. That makes them a dangerous band of fanatics and justifies the use of international force to contain or ‘re-educate’ them.” The Bolsheviks finally won; their flag was just the wrong color.
That elevates the global warming lie to quasi-religious status, an orthodoxy shared across borders and social strata, a universal commonality that is threatened by “them.” Just as the “them” in Nazi Germany became “The Jews,” and in Stalin’s Soviet Union, “enemies of the state,” so the resistance of thinking people to this dubious science will be branded barriers to progress, regardless of their demonstrable veracity.
Never mind that the data is rigged. Never mind that carbon credits means someone selling something they don’t own to people who have no desire to buy. Never mind that the hard work of generations will be plundered by a self-righteous Star Chamber that has appointed itself the world’s guardian.
Climate Change will not die; too many self-important people have too much invested in it. And reason will not prevail against an enemy with no regard for truth. In other words, by marching under the Green banner, socialists can united the world against the holdouts. No other cause except religion has proven such a unifying element, and that is why the lie cannot falter. If some businesses are too big to fail, then without a doubt, so are gods.
This must not stand.

But - remember when Communist USSR / Eastern Europe looked invincible except for a nuclear war exchange?

Look at the sinking view of the majority of Americans of Zero - lowest ratings so far.....and Congress is even lower.
Look at the poor people of North Korea even (their currency has been devalued - and their brutal govt is so afraid of its people they are on war status....)
Look at the people of Romania and Poland and even East
Germany.
Look at the emergence of China as a capitalist power....
Look at the 912 Rally and the Teaparty movement....
Look at Sarah Palin’s soaring popularity.....
Look at the fact that the Internet and Glen Beck led to the dismissal of Van Jones.....
Look at the conservative victories in NJ and VA....
Look at Australia’s Senate voting down Global Warmig edicts...
Look at the outrage that Obama has aroused in the liberal bastion of NY City over AG Holder putting the trials of terrorists there....
Look at the homeschooling movement....
Look at the overwhelming lead of Fox News programs in the Cable viewing wars....
And the overwhelming demise of the Dinosaur media, Chrissy Matthews, MSNBC, and CNN....

We see all the bad news here on FR - along with the good news interspersed.
But we really need to look at the whole picture....
At least I try to.....it helps.
What frightens me is that, given that fact, we cannot prevail on logic to win our case anymore. That leaves us very little in the way of options.
