Wouldn't it be nice?

Sorry for the vanity...but I have been here for awhile and I just cannot stay quiet any more...if anyone is wondering...there are hundreds like me...by personal contact...not CNN estimates.

I have a question...if our Government cannot draw the lines between the shooting in Fort Hood and the Muslim religion, what hope do we have of them negotiating anything on our behalf with other nations like Iran?

How can our leadership possibly understand what leaders like Putin are thinking when they have demonstrated that they cannot, or, are unwilling to draw any inferences from the shooting of our military?

How can they possibly claim to be competent with an ambitious plan like health care when they cannot even understand that someone shooting our troops while yelling "allah akbhar" might be a terrorist act?

Wake up people! Stop spending your money at these businesses. Stop trying to guess whether our elected officials of any party have our interests in mind.

Vote against every presently elected official. Don't let them manipulate you via their usual methods. Vote against your current politician. The next person will care just as much. Your life will not change...just like the last election...the only difference will be that there will be new blood...people that are not entrenched in the system.

If you voted for Obama or the Old guy in the last election, you need to suck it up and vote against the incumbent.

Both sides are willing to drop their current elected official if everyone will just vote against the incumbent.

Don't let our officials con you anymore. They say whatever they need to in order to get elected.

I don't care what side you are on...I only care that you vote against the current candidate.

It is important that everyone do what is necessary to keep our country on track.

At the rate Obama is destroying the country, with he or someone in his administration doing or saying something disastrous every day, internationally as well as at home, then voting may take too darn long. 2010 isn’t enough to but the brakes on the train wreck. By 2012 the USA will be Sierra Leone, or rather, Kenya. We need impeachment. Not possible with the current majorities, but Republicans should start getting this prepared. If we do get a more even balance due to the 2010 elections, start the proceedings the minute everybody’s sworn into office. I’m not an expert, but isn’t this possible? Even necessary. We already have grounds, incompetence.

This is a desperate situation. In one year we almost have socialized medicine, we have proclaimed to the world we are weaklings, we have the Navy fighting off pirates in a daring rescue by having to ignore the CIC, we have our President bowing to Saudi princes and telling us not to “rush to judgment” against terrorists, 10 percent unemployment in some areas, we are promoting abortion (in some cases forcing it on women thru UN agencies) all over the globe with taxpayer money, well, you know this list is long. Is it possible?

The biggest threat I see to this great land is that a large portion of the population either doesn’t understand what’s going on in Washington or they just don’t care.

I still think using the Saul Alinsky method against them will work. (Look at what happened with ACORN).

If you think they can't see the connection, you're rather naïve. But they also realize that there are many motivations and potential connections. Also, as I had hoped good people (not the perps) would learn after balloon boy, it's often important for the authorities to mislead.

How can our leadership possibly understand what leaders like Putin are thinking when they have demonstrated that they cannot, or, are unwilling to draw any inferences from the shooting of our military?

I would suggest that knee-jerk black-and-white thinking is exactly NOT how we should approach Putin, et al. They are often far more subtle than that.

How can they possibly claim to be competent with an ambitious plan like health care when they cannot even understand that someone shooting our troops while yelling "allah akbhar" might be a terrorist act?

See above. "Might be a terrorist act" is only part of the whole picture. Was it an organized terrorist act, coordinated with an anti-American group, or was it a lone individual doing it because he has the same goals as the group, or was it a loser who looked for a way out (recall that psychiatrists have a VERY high suicide rate) and this was an attractive way (guaranteeing paradise)? Was it a little boy in the stands running onto the field to play with his team? There are other possibilities, too, and none of the reasons make what he did okay. None of the reasons take away from the importance of the Islamist influence on him (e.g., the Islamist influence might have turned a suicide into a suicide attack).

But I'm saddened that so few seem to see the importance of understanding what we can of these details.

Wake up people! Stop spending your money at these businesses.

Uh, what businesses?

Vote against every presently elected official. Don't let them manipulate you via their usual methods. Vote against your current politician. The next person will care just as much. Your life will not change...just like the last election...the only difference will be that there will be new blood...people that are not entrenched in the system.

I take it you're not in Ron Paul's district.

If you voted for Obama or the Old guy in the last election, you need to suck it up and vote against the incumbent.

That's right! Nothing sends a message of "Ignore the people and do what you want because they're going to vote against you no matter what!" like knee-jerk anti-incumbent voting.

I don't care what side you are on...I only care that you vote against the current candidate.

I'm sorry, but I would not be happy if the entire Socialist Workers Party won the New York ticket, for example. As bad as it is, don't think it can't be worse.

It is important that everyone do what is necessary to keep our country on track.

I'm not in the engine--I'm in a passenger coach...and from here, I can see that track runs off a cliff. I'm sorry, but I don't want it to stay on track. We need to throw that switch and get us back ONTO the right track.

“The biggest threat I see to this great land is that a large portion of the population either doesn’t understand what’s going on in Washington or they just don’t care”

I think a lot of people are just oblivious, and that popular culture defines the world for many. Our popular culture emphasizes instant gratification, and being defined by one’s appetites and biology rather than deeper thought and spirituality. Desperate Housewives, The Housewives of New Jersey, Sex in the City, the onslaught of ‘reality shows’, trash on MTV, etc., etc.

I don't have TV at home and don't see it much, but when I do I am struck by how much sexual innuendo, and outright sex there is on TV, and not in the context of healthy relationships, but as just another ‘appetite’ that it's OK to let define you. But casual sex is just one aspect of a much broader message that is portrayed, the message that life is about having a good time rather than being about working hard to make a contribution and progress as a person throughout life.

Making it worse at this particular point in our history is that we have a President who is perpetuating the idea that those who have delayed gratification in life, worked hard, and became successful are the villains who have been getting more than their fair share.

So, I think you are right on both counts. Many people don't understand, and many don't care, and to a large extent those are personal choices. It requires effort to think through what is happening in the world, and it can make you very uncomfortable. That's just not fun, and we live in a society in which feeling good, not denying yourself, and having fun are what its all about.

People are also bound by their old habits. They will elect the same twits every time simply because they know them, not the challengers. Never mind that the challengers might do a lot better. People just don’t trust them. Also, in some parts of this country, the unions greatly influence how people vote.

And then, there are the lofty expectations. Some candidate proises the moon, and these voters are too stupid or too lazy to dig deeper. My favorite was an interview with one woman during the Presidential campaign who was going to vote for Obama because he was going to pay off her mortgage and her car. Sadly, even though her expectations are not coming to fruition, she may still support Obama anyway. She’s a true believer, and nothing is going to change her mind.

I hate to tell you this, but impeachment is highly unlikely even after the 2010 elections, cause you need 67 senators to vote for conviction and throw the POTUS out of office. At best, we may have 46 or 47 Republicans after the 2010 elections, and at least 5-7 of them would be gutless RINOS with no stomach for such a “radical” act.

Recall Clinton’s impeachment in 1998. The House voted to impeach. The Senate at the time had 55 Republicans, and I believe 5 or 6 Republicans joined all the Democrats in voting against conviction, keeping Clinton in office.

I just don’t see any way impeachment would happen. I think the best we can hope for is to put the brakes on the agenda in 2010 by the House refusing to fund Obama’s agenda, then get him out in 2012. It would also be nice to see some attorneys out there on our side filing legal challenges to some of these things.

I agree, but I think ‘too lazy’ is the most important reason.

I think the better question would be "How did we get here?"

For 40 years the liberals have been slowly and quietly infesting our education system from first grade on up.
This is the environment where they could shape the thought process of these little skulls full of mush to embrace liberal group think as normal.
This is where the voter comes from.
This is where the KOS kid, the MoveOn'er, DU'er and every left-wing lunatic comes from.
Government schools start the indoctrination and higher education puts the finishing touches on the product.

Refresher courses are distributed via MSM news programs (with a few exceptions) and the final outcome is the Schumer, Kennedy, Snowe, Kerry, OBAMA and most Californians and New Yorkers.

Impeachment on the grounds of incompetence sounds like a good start. I feel the reason why the GOP is open to it but will not act is because there in the same bed with these idiots.

I am with you and so are a lot of freepers. We are tired of the enforced stupidity of elected officials and our major insitutions.

I won’t vote out people blindly, a few do have a brain and they don’t go along with the crowd to get along in Washington and they should be kept in place. But the Rinos and the Democrats have got to go.

We need people who stand outside the reach of the folks who, because of their religion race tribalism (diversity) and political correctness, can not tell the difference between an Iowa grandma and a terrorist Muslim from Saudi Arabia. They can’t tell the difference between protecting society from Muslim terrorists and interacting with every citizen as a potential terorist.

I am sick of the spinning and lying and unlike others, I think there is rarely an excuse that justifies lying to the public. When the government losing the trust of the public for being a liar, it loses respect and it loses accountability. It becomes something of an enemy of the people. I am sick of it, too.

And posting your blog here is allowed and just fine. People don’t have to visit your blog or comment on your ideas if they don’t want to. Most freepers don’t act rudely.
