So, we really don’t know exactly how “reverent” the Europeans are toward our American military dead that sacrificed their lives on European soil...

No disrespect to the locals, but they may have been happy to take a well-paying grounds-and-buildings job with the US Gov, and also honor the fallen GI's. I have had the privilege of meeting a few Europeans from the War Years, and do not doubt that many still hold the GI close in their hearts.

My perhaps acerbic comment was more about keeping circumspect distance from the Euro-governments in the post war years.
