No it didn’t. It simply created government incentivized jobs at the expense of private sector jobs.

Well...I suppose that's better than losing those 20 Jobs in Connecticut, 28 Jobs in Vermont and 22 Jobs in New Hampshire. But somehow I'd expected more for my trillion dollars.

The clunker program created "0" jobs and wrecked a whole lot of good cheap cars...like poorer people have to buy...

I've never owned a NEW car...they always had about 30,000 miles on them. It's all I could afford.

I have to think that more than 20 people in CT have lost their jobs since this debacle began. The whole thing is a bad bad joke.

Florida is one of the hardest hit states by this recession, and it is dead last in getting stimulus money. The reason no doubt is that the GOP controls the state, and the liberal CA Democrats control the Congress. If they can’t hand out stimulus cash based on need, what makes anyone think they can allocate healthcare based on need? Under Obamacare, healthcare will be distributed based on political influence, just has stimulus money is distributed based on political influence.

Not all of them got wrecked.

It was up to the dealers’ discretion whether they would actually put those cars into the clunkers program. One couple traded in their 2001 Xterra believing it would be part of that program, the dealer gave them a 4000 discount off the new car they bought, but they then drove by the lot later the next week and saw their used SUV going for over 10 grand. They were very pissed to say the least.

If your friends turned in a car worth $10,000 for $4,000, what were they thinking?

If I remember correctly, not all of the states requested Federal money. They’re were plenty of strings attached for taking the cash, i.e. the states could receive money for unemployment help but requires the state to expand eligibility for benefits.

Not my friends, it was an article.

They expected (and were led to believe by the dealer) it would be part of the cash for clunkers program. then they find the dealer decided NOT to.

I think they were idiots. But I also think they were deliberately misled by the dealer to defraud them out of their vehicle.
