This poem is dedicated to those who suffer from Dementia or Alzheimer's and for family members who find themselves - forgotten.

Mum has suffered from Alzheimer's for years and often doesn't not know who I am. If she does, she has no idea when I spoke to her or saw her last. For each week she declines, it's that little bit harder for us all who love her. Medication helps, and she has some good days... Dad lives in the same wing of a nursing home. It's a beautiful place and I'm so glad that Dad can be close by. You can see they are happy there.

LOST

Tears roll down her sunken cheeks Sorrow falls from all she seeks Memories “Where have they gone?”

Silent weeping, full of dread Photos stand beside her bed Treasures No longer mean a thing

Keep us posted on the candidate...This post is the 1st I've heard of her..... So far, I see nothing I dislike.....

Her opponents are the same old bag-o-beans....finger-in-the-air politicians.....

I'll spread the word....but first, I am a bit confused.

Is she running as an indepentdent or a republican?

I lost my Mom 7 months ago....she suffered from Alzheimers, and as her primary caregiver I found it extremely difficult and emotional watching her turn into a helpless child.

My Mom died of Alzheimer’s in March, ‘08. It was horrible. When I went to see her on Christmas, ‘07, I found that I had joined my Dad, and everyone else she’d ever known in the deep shadows beyond the rapidly dimming light of her mind. Alzheimer’s victims, for the most part, are the most truly alone of us when they die.

Heartbreaking. My mother suffers from Alzheimers, she still knows us, but is getting confused about where we live. I had a dream not too long ago that my mother died, I woke up crying, because in a lot of ways, she is already dead.

The woman who taught me so much, who had such a great sense of humor, who sacrificed so much to take care of us - is literally gone. It is constant heartbreak for all of us that love her so much.
