Obama's Call to "Spy On Your Neighbor" Was Nothing New For Big Brother POTUS

The Obama administration has announced a program asking everyone to spy on their neighbors. The call for an army of spies was announced in a White House’s internet site blog:

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”

Why is anybody surprised at Obama's attempts at intimidating any dissent? During the campaign it was one of his favorite tactics:

Seems that there was some of this from Obama thugs during the senate race when Alan Keyes got in. I remember a story about some Keyes campaign workers getting arrested and held for several hours during a campaign event.

I was going to suggest “why don’t we tell them what we think of this new “development” in their program and its
Big Brother overtones’, then I realized that’s probably what they intended to accomplish all along by this: a trap whereby they get the e mail addresses of all their “enemies”. They’ll probably get a lot more from their enemies than their allies. That way they can pick and choose what and whom to give most weight to, and easily
shake off any Big Brother charges, or any claim that they’re encouraging Totalitarian Snitching against Your Neighbor, as practiced by Stalin, Mao, East Germany, etc etc.-—they can say “we’re getting a lot of e mail from some crazy, crazy, dangerous people-—the same ones Janet Napolitano/Reno warned us about a few months ago”.
