In my personal opinion, Obama is a disaster for America. I believe future historians will describe this period as the OBAMA CATASTROPHE - the time when America collectively lost its mind and voted for a man and a group of leftists who quickly destroyed the nation in favor of socialism and income redistribution.
However, if people want to save the American nation and way of life - the best and most benevolent society in human history; opposition must be passionate and RATIONAL. The entire legitimacy or birther issue is indeed passionate but definitely not rational.
It has been frustrating to see my fellow-Freepers waste so much time and effort arguing that Obama isn't a legitimate president. He is and no amount of wishful thinking to the contrary will change that fact.

What has become of us? I know some conservatives tend to lean towards mindless conspiracy theories but this is getting ridiculous.
Free Republic is a forum where conservative issues are discussed, hopefully rationally but always passionately. I remember when we all laughed at the conspiracy theories emanating from the liberals and leftists (i.e., 9-11 was an inside job) and now the same type of lunacy has infected this forum.

I do not know if he is a natural born citizen or not and anyone stating that he definately is without seeing the long form birth certificate is just as kooky as those claiming that he is not. BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW, I find the money and effort spent by team Obama fighting this to be suspicious. The result? I want to see the long form.
The issue is, can you effectively explain this issue to people who vote?
I am going to give an example to illustrate this. Please ponder this. Did you know a survey last fall one week before the election of the voters, 50% of the voters believed the GOP still ran Congress? Do you think these people are able understand the constitutional requirement and why we have it? Given the extreme emotional reaction by the other side to a simple request that Obama provide the primary document to ensure compliance with the Constitution on his eligibility to be President, something he has been actively blocking ever since he started campaigning for the office, I would not let go of this issue. Beyond the politics involved, this is really about us being a nation of laws, which apply to everyone.

The overall issue to consider is will the mass of conservative activists be distracted by many problems with the Obama Presidency and programs being ardently raised in a repeated manner or will the Obama administration be distracted in dealing with a large number of challenges?
That is what you are saying — focus on the few issues that you consider most important.
However I believe the marxists are prepared and not only prepared but in control of the media, the educational system and many organization that should be the public’s tools to root out his destruction of the nation and that they must be overwhelmed to be defeated.
In the computer age, we call it buffer overload. The system the leftists have in place can handle the easy stuff such as oposition to “every person’s RIGHT to healthcare” but they can’t handle the unexpected challenge.
