...decided to abandon the case due to prosecutorial misconduct. When do we start the prosecutions against the prosecutors? Oh, I forgot. Judges and prosecutors are above the law.

Only after the conviction did allegations of FBI misconduct come to light. Stevens sought to dismiss the charges, and the Justice Department's action Wednesday in effect supports Stevens' request. As I thought. Not guilty.

Senator Stevens was targeted and destroyed. The Alinsky style politics of personal destruction is successful again. The Democrats gain a Senate seat and then it's finally determined the case was wrongly prosecuted. Just like Mr. Ryan, Obama's potential Republican opponent for the Senate in Illinois was targeted and destroyed. Just like Sarah Palin is now being targeted for destruction.

The conviction served its purpose - ensuring another Democrat Senate seat. There is no way that the Democrat career prosecutors at the DOJ would want any sort of scrutiny of how the conviction was obtained.

Stevens was the GOP King of Pork. We’re better off without him. We can’t cry about Democrats overspending with Republicans like him doing the same thing.
IIRC, he was prosecuted by the Bush justice dept.

Don't forget what they did to Tom Delay. I believe he's still never been tried and I think the prosecutor who obtained the indictment has retired. The important thing to the Neo-Commies is that they unseat the Republican, take the seat, and make certain that the Republican could NEVER be re-elected as they have totally destroyed their reputation, "killed" them politically.

How would you like it if you were falsely accused? The seat belongs to Republicans. These RATS must be in total fear of not being able to win elections legitimately as they have to find a way to cheat.
These RATS are never held accoutable for anything they do What a despicable thing to do to someone if they're not guilty but it's typical RAT behavior.

First, Stevens was investigated and prosecuted by a Republican Justice Dept.
Second, that Senate seat belongs to whomever won the election in Alaska.
Third, ‘Rats are seldom held accountable and it does us no good to cry about that if we’re going to ignore the wrongdoings of GOP politicians.
Fourth, Ted Stevens is a pork-barreling crook who belongs in jail.

Fourth, Ted Stevens is a pork-barreling crook who belongs in jail. He belongs in jail if he did something illegal. He does not belong in jail for being responsible for pork.

Found guilty on all 7 counts.
Until I hear what “serious prosecutorial misconduct” occured, he’s still a crook.
No matter what, he’s the poster boy for term limits and loved to spend our hard-earned money way too freely.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I’d rather have an honest senator that respects the American taxpayers and their hard-earned money.
Overlooking a crooked Republican makes you no better than the Democrats.
Right is right and wrong is wrong. Party affiliation has nothing to do with it.

Of course. I agree with you but someone is going to occupy this seat. Would you rather have a crooked Republican or a crooked Democrat. I'll take the Republican.
If there could be a special election and we get a good solid conservative, that would be great!! I'm just trying to deal with reality.

I’m sorry that you are willing to sell out your principles and morality for political power.
That is why this country is slowly dying. Too many won’t stand for what’s right.

You are willing to think anything you like but I assure you we want the same thing. It’s a matter of strategy. I believe we already have the framework and it’s the Republican party. I look at it like you’re trying to reinvent the wheel.

Until I hear what serious prosecutorial misconduct occured, hes still a crook. You obviously have not read any of the accounts of such conduct. They are plentiful -- google is your friend. Start with terms like "William Welch" or "Brenda Morris" or "Mary Beth Kepner" or "Chad Joy."
Stevens was a victim of a witchhunt and only convicted because he did not get a fair trial. Exculpatory evidence was withheld, other evidence manufactured, perjury subjorned, a witness made to disappear. The list goes on. The lead FBI investigator was taking gifts, engaging in "an inappropriate relationship" with her lead witness, leaking grand jury testimony to prosecution witnesses, and more.
If you don't like his politics, fine. That does not justify corrupt prosecutors using their power to convict him of crimes he did not commit.
