The Other Shoe Drops: Updates To Previous Posts (Now Is Not The Time To Talk About Race)

When the sh*t hit the fan over the New York Post cartoon that some insist is depicting President Barack Obama as a chimpanzee, The Wall Street Journal – among many other MSM outlets – helpfully informed readers that “[m]onkeys have been used historically in pejorative portrayals of black people.” Someone should have informed the MSM that blacks are not alone in having been given the monkey business.

In the late 19th century British and American cartoonists routinely depicted the Irish as monkeys or apes – as did historians and scientists ...

Given this country’s virulent and shameful history of anti-Irish racism, depicting Bush as a chimp is as racist – and racist in the exact same way - as depicting Obama as a chimp. But neither Al Sharpton and other race-baiters, nor their liberal enablers in the MSM and academe ever protested.

NOTE: This post is the last in a grab-bag section of news items. The pictures speak volumes.

Notice the Black Monkey is smiling whereas the Irish Monkey is assuredly not.

I also vaguely remember the left referring to our former president, George W. Bush, as a chimpanzee. Is it less offensive to refer to a white president as a chimp?

It is Liberals who automatically associate Blacks with Simians. They were consciously “demeaning” Bush as a Negro with all the Bush-as-chimp cartoons and references.

What about the numerous newspaper cartoons that depicted GW Bush as a monkey? Where is the outrage at that? Where is the “fairness doctrine” people on that unfairness? And that was a direct depiction of Bush as a monkey. This chimp being shot cartoon as Obama is a emotional stretch from logic in thinking that just because it is a monkey it refers to Obama even though there was no reference to Obama in the cartoon. And it is Congress, not the president that writes bills, so it is also uninformed and appeals to the uninformed and uneducated. That makes it... PROPAGANDA, but that is nothing we don’t already expect from our newspapaers now days.

I remember when I was a kid I was told a joke about an Italian immigrant who was caught and hoisted up in a net onto a banana boat saying, ‘if I ever finda out who a put a me ona this boat...’

Indicating he was like a monkee and was being shipped back with the boat to a jungle.

At the time I thought it a weird joke and couldn’t make the connection to him being sent on a banana boat back to the jungle for more bananas and was informed by the teller of the joke because he was brown, Italians are tan, didn’t I get it?

Italians are tan because the Moslems occupied the southern half of the country for about 300 years.

I realize that. I just found the differences in expression to be interesting.

I posted the historical remark so Admin Monitor didn't have a reason to pull the post. A lot of monkey images have been pulled from threads.

Sorry for the confusion.

The DNC is the party of the race-obsessed. For a Dem, everything is about race. Its impossible to ignore race, its impossible to go about your life without every waking moment being consumed by race, and furthermore for a Dem a color-blind society is not desireable, if it was possible, which to them it is not.

Repubs, on the other hand, generally don’t care about race, aren’t interested in it as an issue, consider it to be of very secondary importance if they regard it as mattering at all. Its a completely different way of looking at life and at people. Obama, early on, tried to present himself as post-racial and in that brief era caught the attention of Republicans. It didn’t last long because it wasn’t true, he was as race-obsessed as any other Dem.

And it should be no surprise; if he was truly post-racial he would probably be a Republican already. Except for the socialism thing, and frankly there are Republicans who are socialists under the skin, but there are very few Repubs who give a rip about what color you are.

But, I thought black people were the only ones to have been enslaved, discriminated against and equated with monkeys!

Did anyone else see the Nickalodeon show with Linda Ellerbee talking with a bunch of kids about racism? Cornel West was also on the show.

Linda asks the kids if it made them think differently of the founding fathers to know that they owned slaves. One girl said of course, it makes me think they were lying when they wrote the constitution.

Cornel West then tells the kids, that slavery was not a black or white thing, that slavery was practiced throughout human history. Okay, true enough Cornel, but you then failed to say that it was white, Christians who led to the end of slavery in the Western world.

I have looked for some commentary about this but haven’t seen any yet.

Of course Sharpton and the other race baiters never protested. They are woefully ignorant of history.

Remember the folks who complained about the term tar-and-feather. They said it was racist because many blacks were tarred and feathered in the south. What a crock. The term refers to King George’s tax collectors prior to the revolutionary war. It never happened to any black.

Cornel West also failed to tell her about the thousands of blacks who owned slaves in the south or the blacks who were slave breeders or the blacks in Africa who sold their own people into slavery.

Ah, it’s ok.
But honestly, why should I care [about posting an old cartoon of men as monkeys] when someone posted a big-old baboon-arse earlier today? (Search up “Rosie O’Donnel”)

Good point, seriously. You can never be truly free from prejudice until you are free of it in your own head first. Most people can laugh at themselves, I happen to be blond and love blond jokes. Those who can’t are truly imprisoned by prejudice and ignorance. Selfishly, their own.

Yes, that’s true, I hadn’t thought of that. Kind of funny too when he talked about how owning a slave was a status symbol, like having fine clothes or a nice car.

Now, think about the rap and hip/hop stars who have their “posses” around them all the time. The more “slaves” you own, the bigger the star you are.

Truly pathetic. Eric Holder wants a conversation on race? How about this Eric? When blacks quit holding down their brothers and impregnating and abandoning their sisters, maybe they will find the same success as someone like Michael Steele, who has the courage to reject the slavery of liberal plantation politics.
