In light of President's day I would like to entertain you with a slightly closer look at the comparisons being made between our current president and the much accomplished Abraham Lincoln. I found the comparison to be extremely off-putting as I failed to see any comparison other than state origin and perceived "inexperience" in Congress.
For starters, Honest Abe got into politics at the tender age of 23. In the next 17 or so years Abe served in the state legislature, taught himself law, passed the bar and according to most sources became a reputable lawyer. Lincoln toured with Zachary Taylor supporting his presidency bid where he actively participated by giving speeches for crowds and learning about the process. Not to be forgtten, he was also a captain of the Illinois militia although did not experience action.

is there a “Day in the Life of President Obummer”thread here on FR?
No, but we can imagine one and it will probably be quite amusing.
if someone were to post some such thing i’d hope they would have a sense of humor , ‘cause he’s looking like a clown to me.
Washington: “I cannot tell a lie.”
Lincoln: Walked miles to give somebody their rightful change.

I signed on to AOL today and up pops a Google search box with a Presidents ____ Day headline and Obamas smirking face was smack in the middle of it. Will Google go as far for Obama as they did for China?
Considering how quickly they fixed the google bomb it is quite apparent that google is in bed with Obama.
Took them YEARS to resolve the Bush bomb, took them 4 days to fix the obama one?
Sad..so sad...
NO..and I really don’t want to have one. Not like was posted for President Bush. The only ones worth time would be for the fashion lack of sense of the First Frump.
“First Frump”- ha! good one there.
That gal got her 15mins or should i say 5mins on Vanity Fair cover and of course we all know it’s about exposure to the buying public and people will make up their own minds.
Problem: the MSM continually tries to parallel her with Jackie Kennedy & the Obummer’s Admin the same because the Dems need a theme to continue keeping these frauds in the WH.
Michelle Obama has multiple fashion problems.
#1. She’s addicted to little black sweaters with whaddevah she’s wearing, for some odd reason thinking these above the waist/three quarter sleeves are doing her justice to her upper arms- there ya’ go- insecurity about her upper arms.
#2. In interviews and photo shots when she is sitting her clothing is not properly tailored to her large hips and behind. Many if not all of her pics (sitting down) show EXTREMELY large knees and much of her upper thighs.Don’t get me wrong-i’m not a prude but this gal needs not only to have some clothing fitted to her figure but learn to sit properly so that her knees are not exposed. This is only my humble opinion and my few observations on the physicaly side of what she needs to and that means - no more buying off the rack crap from JCREW and mixing patterns, too, just like she did on Leno, that outfit was awful.
I got the impression from that incident that she must have figured if she mixed it all “real good enough” it might , it might just look clever,(’cause of course those who are in the limelight and superstars can get away with crap like that) but it didn’t.
#3. ATTITUDE- This First Floppy Frump has not a good attitude and I believe that ‘tude and what’s in your heart is reflected on your face. She’s been caught in a lot of
photo opps that truly reflect her inner attitude and state of mind and most of them are negative. To me, she has no control over her thoughts EVEN KNOWING she is being photographed for the entire world and that says to me- a lack of a disciplined mind, and not an inner multi-tasker.
There are a lot of women not in her position and yet dress appropriately, diplomatically and with some sort of common sense and don’t even order from the JCREW catalog, for starters.
One last comment- Michelle Obummer’s choice of wardrobe at the National Prayer Service.
OMG! I was having a conniption- What was that girl thinking??? Short sleeves in church as FLOTUS in Church?
cut me some slack here, i’m no prude- it looked as if she DELIBERATELY DRESSED DOWN with that aged Laura Ashley style print in purple and black and no sleeves- HUH?- springtime- anyone??? all the other wives in that first pew had sleeves down to the cuff and no wild weird sofa & chair upholstery material covering them .
Well, this is my opinion and i’ve been meaning to write about this since I saw her in public with that getup at the National Cathedral.
Michelle Obama is a FASHION DISASTER
Thanks for giving me a spot to write mho.
hugs!:)
George Washington declined an offer to be king of the infant nation.
Lincoln reigned as a tyrannical king, trampling the constitution, while quoting scripture and the constitution.
Surprisingly, America survived Lincoln. Hopefully, America will survive Barry Soetoro.
He may have been a tyrant, but the crisis he faced was greater than anything this country has ever seen - true?
Did you have a chance to listen to the audio links? For instance, not only W. VA was created illegally by Lincoln, but so was KS. The audio links are a taste of what is in Thomas J. DiLorenzo's books.
Sure, he was facing a crisis. His beloved Northern money interests were facing certain bankruptcy had the South been able to set up the free trade zone as they were planning to. As it was, the South financed the federal government and the revenue was spent in the North.
As for slavery, every other industrial nation ended slavery peacefully. There is no reason to believe the US wouldn't have followed the same path.
So, considering the train of constitutional abuses, and 620,000 dead Americans, shooting him in the head was too quick, let alone ranking him above George Washington.
I suppose I am more ignorant on the matter than I thought, but it appears that his primary objective was to keep the country united at all costs. He made that point quite clear well before the war got underway, its not like he went to war because of slavery. He went to war because the country was splitting apart.
I know his views on blacks left much to be desired and his suspension of habeus corpus and other constitutional infractions were awful, but it seems like there is a conspiracy overtone to it...
Sure, there’s a conspiratorial tone to it. Otherwise, the facts surrounding Lincoln’s despotic rein would be widely known.
I think your comparison with Condi proves you right.
It’s all about ‘tude!:)
gawd, i’d love to see an “epidose” of housewives of DC
