Liberal Columnist Blasts Democrats for Even Considering the "Fairness Doctrine" - Audio 2/13/09

Here is audio from the Mark Simone Show, where Mark interviewed Liberal Columnist Camille Paglia yesterday and talked to her about the Obama Administration's early weeks, and the issue of the "Fairness Doctrine." Paglia blasts her fellow Democrats for even suggesting the idea of limiting Talk Radio or monitoring it in any way. She says they are "betraying the very soul of the party" by suggesting such a thing.

It is refreshing to hear a liberal stand on their own principles but be fair and honest towards those who don't agree with them. Paglia fits that category, and should be applauded for doing so. She even says Obama has lost "dignity" by rushing through the Stimulus Plan without allowing time for real debate and consideration.

She starts talking about the "Fairness Doctrine" at the 10:41 mark of the video. . . . . (Listen to Paglia)

“But let’s get real: Liberals have been pathetic flops on national radio — for reasons that have yet to be identified. Air America, for example, despite retchingly sycophantic major media coverage, never got traction and has dwindled to a humiliating handful of markets. The Democrats are the party of Hollywood, for heaven’s sake — so what’s their problem in mastering radio?”

Random walk thoughts on this topic - 3 things come to mind.

1) Liberals are getting a fairly good dose of self-reinforced liberal messages from print and tv media already. What is a talk radio program going to tell them that they aren’t hearing in some form or fashion in the major media already? This means there is not sufficient demand for the product. I do think if the major media bias were reversed, this would change some.

2) Possible the radio format and cross-section of listeners doesn’t work well with themes which pretty much center around taking away the listeners’ control over various parts of their life and beliefs.

3) talk radio at this point is nearly a sole-source audible content of messages of the political viewpoint it presents for conservatives. You will hear things on talk radio you will never ever hear on a network, or read in almost any US paper. This relates to 1) above as a contrast.

Let us NEVER call it by it’s lying title....but ALWAYS refer to it as the CENSORSHIP DOCTRINE/NOT FAIRNESS Doctrine.

If liberals truly wanted fairness they would dissolve ACORN since that is a very unfair organization receiving taxpayer money to fund only liberal democrats and not conservatives.

They made up this title with the intent to deceive but WE THE PEOPLE will stop them by calling it for what it truly is.

Since this so-called “fairness doctrine” is a anti-First Amendment, Commie ‘RAT idea, I doubt it will ever be ruled “unconstitional”.

Talk about rallying the base!

This is the most politically tone deaf idea in decades. If the libtards had any brains, they would run from the (un)Fairness Doctrine as fast as possible.

The liberals already dominate the airwaves. They get their message out using rap music. Liberal talk radio is pretty lame in comparison.

Paglia is complaining now? Where has she been with regard to the denying of free speech on the college campus’ all these years.

She didn’t notice that only the liberal views are permitted.

Any speaker with a conservative viewpoint it threatened to say the least.

The ones in the White House and Congress are not liberals. They are “socialists”. No dissent allowed.

Sounds like your typical fifth grade teacher trying to explain away an unruly pet student’s ill behavior right after he was caught in the girl’s room with his pant’s down.

Talk Radio is a conservative medium for the simple reason that it is the one form of media most accessible to people who work, the soul of the conservative movement. Hard working people don’t have time to watch the evening news, read a paper, or go to movies. Talk radio is accessible anywhere you have a $5 radio from WalMart.

”They made up this title with the intent to deceive but WE THE PEOPLE will stop them by calling it for what it truly is."

Manipulating the English language has for many years been the enemy’s tactic of choice for forcing otherwise unpopular and immoral policies on the American people:

“Pro-Choice”

Who can be against Choice?

”Stimulus Package”

Who can be against stimulus

”Fairness Doctrine”

Who can be against Fairness?

Well, I’d like to advocate a new policy I’ll refer to as the ‘Bash a Liberal’s Brains out to Save America Program’ or (BLBSAP).

Who can be against saving America?

I LOVE Camille Paglia.

She’s intelligent, witty, and skewers both right and left when she deems it necessary.

She lives someplace in my area (Philadelphia area) and, ma’am, should you ever peruse this column, it would be my honor to buy you a glass of wine.

Stop using leftist words. It is THE CENSORSHIP DOCTRINE.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2172649/posts

it is important not to let leftists frame the argument. ask the mod to put “censorship doctrine” in parentheses next to the title.
