fat-tax

Liberals are keen on making the rest of us uninformed, self-absorbed bundles of God-obsessed narcissists, i.e., conservatives, “aware” of things. ("National School Backpack Awareness Day," "National Pit Bull Awareness Day," "National Self-Injury Awareness Day" - all real). New York Governor David Paterson, if nothing else, has made us all “childhood obesity aware” now that his “fat tax” proposal looks like it will fail in blue-state New York.

I appreciate the Governor’s willingness to open my eyes, but I happen to drive past McDonalds, the Greek diner and the impoverished who live in the housing projects on my way into Manhattan almost daily – I know what obesity is.

Yesterday, the Governor spoke to

The whole ‘fat tax’ thing is a red herring to obscure the elimination of the ‘Star Program’, which will literally double the property taxes of millions of middle class New York property owners.

Most people don’t even know it’s in there. If it gets mentioned, it’s buried in the middle of an article on the stupid ‘fat tax’.

There are exceptions, but for example, one of the large old houses in crime-ridden Schenectady will run you about $12-14k in property tax. The star program will bring it down to about $7-8k. When you look at the taxes in the MLS, it’s the AFTER Star number that they use. Many property owners are in for a HUGE surprise.

I’ll bet many won’t even realize until they get the tax bill and wonder why it’s so high. People will literally be put out of their homes, forced to move. Many people in Upstate NY have property tax bills as it stands that are about the same as their mortgage.

Patterson is feckless. The fact he cries to his mommy when SNL pokes fun at him demonstrates in spades, no pun intended, what a pansy he is. Shelly Sliver is reenacting the sodomy scene in Deliverance as we speak. Don't blame me though; I voted for John Faso.

Don't worry, they will try again. All they need is more money to make it work.
