Ricks Says "Iraq is Going to Change Obama More Than Obama Changes Iraq" - Video 2/8/09

Here is the Washington Post's Tom Ricks talking about what lies ahead for Iraq in 2009. Ricks has written a book on Gen. David Petraeus and Iraq called, "The Gamble." He appeared on Meet the Press today.

While I would disagree with Ricks on much of what he says about former Pres. George W. Bush, I think much of what he says about what lies ahead in Iraq is true.

Ricks says President Obama is going to face a decision towards the end of 2009 on whether he will do what his followers want him to do regarding troop withdrawals, and what he predicts the Generals will be telling Obama. Ricks believes as troop levels decline, violence in Iraq could dramatically increase. Interestingly, Ricks says there is no way U.S. Troops will be out of Iraq in 16 months. He says Americans will be there for years, and that Obama's War in Iraq could last longer than Bush's. He predicts, "Iraq is going to change Obama more than Obama changes Iraq." Very interesting to ponder. . . . . (Watch Video)

Once Zero and Plugs start “talking” to Iran, those 150,000 troops right next door may find themselves with a new mission.

And with the Incompetent in Chief busy destroying our economy and Constitution, our guys could be facing a tough go.

That guy in the video is on Planet Ron Paul if he thinks Obama will be changed by Iraq. The only thing that will change is an increase in Obama’s approval ratings.

The truth is, the war in Iraq is all but over thanks to the courage of Bush, McCain, and most of all our great soldiers.

But Obama will get ALLLLLL THE CREDIT for pulling our troops out of a war that’s already over, no thanks to he, when his and his party did everything to ensure our defeat.

this guy is the ultimate doomsdayer...

he must figure hussien will win re-election hands down to say “Iraq could be a longer war for obamatuer than it was for Bush”....

secondly- he relies on a single source for his quotes- and we don’t even get both sides of those quotes....

But if Obama drastically reduces troop levels, you could send Al-Qaeda seek to reconstitute in Iraq or a genocide of sectarian violence. I’m afraid Obama is going to try to draw down troops much too quickly. That’s where I think this guy could be right.

Baby O will have to worry more about the riots this Summer in the US than Iraq. He’s incompetent.

You are SO right. The war is won, and it’s Obama who will take the credit. This guy claims to be a military expert, but he knows less than the common man.
