A lot of people are excited about Barack Obama signing into law the Lilly Ledbetter Law - I'm pretty sure you heard about it on the radio or saw it on TV. Probably no one's happier than Mr. Obama's own female staffers who, according to last year's Report of the Secretary of the Senate, paid his female staffers only 78% of what he paid his male staffers.

What does he care if they get a raise? Make it 200% of mens pay can go to women. He doesn’t have to pay for it, its our money. While women deserve equal pay, lets not think he is being genuine in his support.

Understand this...all of the "fundamental change" Obama brings is intended for the unwashed masses. Just waiting to see how this is used to further handicap us evil white males. Hate to say that, but in light of Robert ‘4th’ Reichs comments about farming out TARP money to minorities-NOT white males-I’m on the defensive.

If by this you mean you wouldn’t want a 90lb fire”man” to try and rescue your manly 180lb frame, then I agree. A 90lb person of either sex would not be suited to that role. However, from your tone, it appears that you think too many women have jobs they are not qualified.

As a matter of fact I am a retired Firefighter and I meant exactly that.

I recently watched a Firefighter’s Rodeo, a game type affair where Firefighters played against a clock to do various thing Firefighter’s do. One thing that really stood out to me was that they had two categories of the games, one for men and one for women. Now if women are equal, and paid equally, why didnt they compete against the men?
Why do we have female basketball games and female sports teams in college collecting money under title 9.Why is there womens golf?

We all know the answer we arent stupid. Women cannot compete athletically and physically with men, so why in athletically and physically required jobs should women even be hired, much less at the same salary with those they cannot compete with.

You may find the occassional woman built more like a tank than a female who can, I say hire her, but that isnt the way it’s done. You take what shows up or you face a law suit.

Remember when cops had to be 5 ‘10” to get a job as a State Trooper? There was a reason for that.

Yep, I know one of those women who would put most men's athletic prowess to shame. She deserved the pay she received for her skills. She was in the army and went through the various “hard core” schools - ranger, airborne ... and was always miffed by the double standards. She got written up for doing her chin ups the wrong way, she would do them the “guy” way apologize and then do them the “girl” way.

Physical requirements need to be the same for male or female. ESPECIALLY in physical jobs. As a “consumer” I need to know that I can rely on my fireman to save me.

But as a female, I do get tired of people assuming that I am not as smart as a guy. That is always frustrating. No one, male or female, likes to be thought of as incompetant.
