It’s not as simple as that. My fiance has a very light weight 20 ga. with an incredible kick bc it is so light.....it even hurts my shoulders and I only shoot a 12 ga. (and my 12 ga. has nowhere the kick of that 20 ga)

As a rule the heavier the firearm the less percieved recoil. Most people get their wives/girlfriends the smallest, lightest piece they can find. And their significant other will hate firing it because of the recoil. I speak from personal experience. An XD-9 subcompact was not the answer for my wife, but when she fired my 1911 she fell in love with it. She now CCWs with her own full size Kimber Custom TLE/RL II in stainless.
