A popular subject, but boomers were/are divided about 50/50 between conservative and lefties. Less than half were involved in any anti-war activity. And, as someone else said, the GG was in power when a huge number of lefty initiatives were enacted, or when things were screwed up with lib ideas, etc. The GG deserves one heck of a lot of the ‘credit’.
But for those who really enjoy this subject, it hasn’t been updated for at time, but seems to have a lot to offer for the confirmed boomer haters:

Pretty much...there might be a few good raisins left there in the bin, but not many.
and Sham WOW!
LOLOL!
Wow. Thanks? I'll take that as the insult you intended it to be.
There are plenty of reasons to criticize Boomers, but I’ve often said that it was GG journalists who stuck the microphones into the faces of a bunch of zonked out hippies and acted as if they had some profound wisdom to impart to the world.
And, when did the Boomers assume political power in the US? Could it have been much before Slick become the first Boomer president in 1992? Certainly, no sooner than the mid to late eighties when Boomers perhaps became the majority generation in Congress.
A heck of a lot of damage had been done to the US well before the mid-eighties, or 1992, and the GG and Korea tweeners were very much in charge up until those years.
and the Snuggie. Those stupid blanket/jedi robe things. I see those commercials one more time and I’m going to vomit.
Oh yahh, I’m going to wear one of those hideous things at a outdoor sports game. Sure. Right after I wipe up a softdrink spill on the carpet with my ShamWow!
Sorry, it wasn’t the Boomers. We’re the folks who will see Social Security, into which we have paid a fortune, dry up by the time most of us even reach it. We’re the ones who have been paying for all the socially redeeming programs thought up by ...ta da...the Greatest Generation.
When I went to high school, my teachers, all Greatest Generation people who had gone to college on the GI bill after WWII, were raving anti-Americans and I, a naive American, was stunned to learn how we were supposed to look for the “real motives” behind Washington and Jefferson, and how they weren’t good motives at all but were meant to suppress the working class.
So count me out on this “Greatest Generation” stuff. It was their thought and their cynicism that ruined life for the Baby Boom generation. The leading lights in the “generation of ‘68” (the Summer of Love generation) were all about 10-15 years older than the people who were actually teenagers in 68.
Nobody is willing to face this fact.
Happy New Year BG!!!
I don’t know how old you folks are, but imagine that you were decent, hardworking teenagers, and all of a sudden, your parents start telling you your country sucks, life is lousy, they hate being married, free sex is all, dope is great, who needs to work - and you’d imagine what it was like being a Baby Boomer. It wasn’t us who went berserk, it was our parents, and the Boomers were only doing what their parents essentially wanted to do and couldn’t, or wanted to do and did and forgot about their kids in the meantime.
The Greatest Generation was the first big divorce and dump your kids generation.
I’m from the first year of the Baby Boom generation and I grew up in the 60s. But the people who led things ranging from lefty protests to nude events were not people my age, but people about 15 years older. You’re blaming the wrong generation.
True, and some of the 'leaders' of the sixties excesses were five and more years older than the oldest boomers: Tom Hayden, Jane Fonda, convert to conservatism David Horowitz, and many more.
And if the GG media hadn't been there to give massive publicity to every excess of the sixties, and every bizarre character, things would have been less out-of-control, without the every present journalist and TV camera.
I think if someone can sign up just to feed the Ego-meter I should be able to unload a weighty, shelf busting, make a tree lover cry, drive a printer to tears, ode to the old, paper heap book on them or dream of doing do so.
Now I’m back to watching the Barrett-Jackson auto auction of real cars. Takes my mind off the plastic girdles being passed off as cars today and all this stuff about getting cranky as I age... I’m not cranky! If I was I’d shot him a third time as he crawled off my porch...pretending to be a postman..Ha!
Yep, mine too.
I guess I must have just slippped through the cracks. heheh.
Funny thing though, my best friend in Jr. High and High School was named Dale Reed. Nice guy.
Now that’s funny right there, I dont care who you are.
ZOT!
generational derangement syndrome.
It was baby boomers flying strategic air command missions 24/7 for decades to keep idiots like this from speaking Russian.
if the author of the article thinks that the latch-key kids and divorced parents started with BBs, he needs to go read history again.
