Supporters of Caroline Kennedy point to her record in the NYC Department of Education as proof that she has the experience to be Senator from NY. But on close examination, that argument doesn't really work. During her 22 month tenure as fundraiser for the NYC School System Ms Kennedy rarely showed up to her workspace and did little to raise funds, she was a figurehead whose job it was to ad "star power" to the efforts of others:

>rarely showed up to her workspace and did little<

Just curious. I wonder if she also “rarely” took pay and compensation for the “little” that she did do?

Or was this just another of those taxpayer funded “positions”?

I was referring to the description of her work habits at the NYC Schools: ...rarely showed up to her workspace and did little to raise funds, she was a figurehead whose job it was to ad "star power" to the efforts of others....

Sounds about like a U.S. Senator to ME!!

;^)

And she is now being promoted to be installed as a Senator for some other reason than her name?

She visited Rochester, NY recently for the FIRST time.

Turns out, people live up there. It’s not all wilderness. There’s indoor plumbing. Businesses. Heck, there’s even other cities nearby! Buffalo, Syracuse. Some city called Albany even claims to be where NY has it’s capital - really!

I could start to have a sense of humor about her if she had a record of being an active presence in NYS. If she ran a business. Cashed a paycheck using her law degree. Inspired commerce in NYS in some way.

Our country needs qualified leaders. It’s an insult that she’s not-so-quietly campaigning for Senator.

All the more reason she should be the junior Democrat Senator from New York. A batam-weight indeed.

If she's appointed, NYers will benefit since she “rarely showed up at her workplace and did little.”

This situation in New York state... it's maddening it's so frustrating, or it's so frustrating it's maddedning. This woman, with no discernable achievement nor even involvement in public affairs in her entire lifetime other than dilettante-ish fund-raising, wants to be appointed a United Sates Senator based solely on her name. To hell with her! If she wants it let her run in 2010.

The lack of reporting about her background even for the NY
liberal press is unbelievable!

I didn’t know the NYC school system was a charitable institution that had fundraisers. Guess you learn something every day.

I stated in an earlier post that Kennedy’s don’t do fund raiser’s, they lend them their name, show up for the perfunctory photo-op and sit back and let others do the work.

I watched this personally one day at a special Olympics event in Washington DC. The kids were there doing their thing, trying their hardest, when of a sudden things stopped: Ted Kennedy and the Shriver woman arrived, they came in and hugged the kids while the camera’s clicked
and 15 minutes later they were gone. Like a quick gust of wind.

Others do the work, they take the credit.

In fact that is pretty much what a Senator does. Their staff does the work they merely meet and greet and live off the fat of Capitol Hill politics.
