SFGate - It's the rumor that won't go away
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | Saturday, November 29, 2008 | John Diaz

Posted on 11/29/2008 10:01:20 PM PST by Deepest End

Speaking of mail: It's the rumor that won't go away. I continue to get e-mails about why mainstream media are not pursuing the challenge to the authenticity of President-elect Barack Obama's citizenship. The answer is that this allegation has been vetted and debunked.

As this began to circulate on the right-wing blogosphere last spring, the Obama campaign posted a copy of his birth certificate on the Internet for the world to see. While it is true that Hawaiian officials have not made the document public because of privacy laws, the state's health director said she and the registrar of vital statistics have personally inspected his birth certificate and can vouch for its authenticity. That pretty much amounts to "case closed" for anyone but the conspiracy theorists who are convinced that Obama was born in Kenya and his mother fraudulently applied for a Hawaii birth certificate. Even if this were true - it seems rather silly to engage this argument, but here goes - I can't imagine anyone being able to put together sufficient evidence to invalidate a birth certificate that has been in the official vault for 47 years.

That certificate states that Barack Hussein Obama II was born in Honolulu at 7:24 p.m. on Aug. 4, 1961. And, yes, Hawaii had achieved statehood by then, contrary to some versions of this rumor.

So just SHOW US THE REAL (ORIGINAL) BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!!

Only then is it honest to use the words “debunked.”

Even the fact this was addressed could mean nerves.

hile it is true that Hawaiian officials have not made the document public because of privacy laws, the state's health director said she and the registrar of vital statistics have personally inspected his birth certificate and can vouch for its authenticity.

That's not accurate. If they HAD personally inspected his birth certificate they would be in violation of these very same privacy laws. They have only verified that there IS a birth certificate on file, but they can't say what is on it.

Especially when they did not attest to what the document contains, only that it exists.

John Diaz, you’re so silly if you think this story is going away without resolution!

thesetruths nailed it. The fact that a liberal rag like the SF Chronicle is even mentioning this is because they are nervous ... perhaps panicking. They would not dare to lower themselves to the level of “bitter clingers” and pathetic rumors otherwise.

The 0bama spin team must be behind this. Every story I see about this basically says the same thing; “its a rumor”, “its false and has been proven as such”, “there is a birth certificate posted on the web”, “Hawaiian State officials say so”. However, all of this is 100% false, and the people writing these stories are lying and they know it.

1. “Its a rumor” - Its not a rumor. All evidence points to a concerted cover up, and we want to know why.

2. “Its false and has been proven false” -There has been no proof at all. All the proof we have of a conspiracy and cover-up have shown that we have a good reason to want to know about this, and research shows that there is definitely something amiss with these forged documents. There is a very simple way to prove that there is not a scandal - just release the damned vault copy of the birth certificate, not a “Certificate of Live Birth”, that anyone can apply to receive, which is only proof that a child was born alive, not proof of where he was born or his nationality.

3. “There is a birth certificate posted on the web”. There is not birth certificate. See #2 above.

4. “Hawaiian State officials say so”. Wrong. No such statement has ever been made. The only statements regarding this are (paraphrased) ‘We can confirm that there is an original birth certificate with the State of Hawaii’, with no further comment as to its contents.

Given we all know Obama is the least qualified man ever elected to the office of President....

Given we all know Obama has more than his share of disreputable friends and close associates — ranging from black racists, to former terrorists, to Islamists, to Nation of Islam thugs, to illegal aliens including family members and a lot of suspicious history...

Given we've all heard about his reputed "Dual Citizenship" and suspect Muslim background and a Paternal Grandmother who was quoted as saying she attended his birth in a Kenyan Hospital...

The very LEAST the bastard should show, is PROOF he is a Natural Born Citizen..... The ONLY Constitutional requirement he hasn't yet PROVED he is in compliance with...

However - his expenditure of time and money to deny the citizens he wishes to “lead” the privilege of seeing the proof of “Natural Born Citizen”............is troubling to say the least..

He is hiding something.... WHAT?

“There is a birth certificate posted on the web”.

I remember some photoshopped missile launches on the web. So if Iran posts a document stating they have ceased production of nuclear weapons "on the web," are we to take it at face value? Who believes anything that is "posted on the web" without verifying it?

And given all we don't know. This guys entire life is a shroud of obfuscation, secrecy, pretense, lies and deceit. Even the local Chicago Suntimes is confused:

"Barack Obama with his grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, in Africa in 2004. Courtesy of the Obama family" - Chicago Suntimes, published 8/16/06.
