I've tried hard to bite my tongue on Bush's domestic policies, because I felt he needed the support to fight the war on terror. I believe President Bush deserves a great deal of credit for standing strong when others would have wavered. History, I believe, will be very kind to him on this issue.
President Bush ran as a Reagan Republican on domestic and economic policy. He has in fact, been quite the opposite. Far too often resembles the Democrats on domestic issues to be called a Reaganite.
The current financial crisis is for me, the final straw that cannot be ignored. The bailout plan proposed by the White House was actually to the LEFT of what Democrats would accept. When Democrats in congress have to reign in your proposal, you know you've lost your economic compass.
The White House and congressional Democrats crafted a "bi-partisan" bailout plan that all but excluded participation by Republicans in congress. Far from a bi-partisan agreement, it would be better described as a bargain between the devil and a desperate man in the dark of night.
The sad fact is, Bush sold out on this one. I know he is at the end of his presidency, as a lame duck he has little influence left, he is tired, and he wants this all to go away so he can finish his term on a "positive note". None of that matters. He is still the president and still has a duty to fight for what is best for the country. It seems sadly, he has lost the will to do so.
Mr President, if when faced with the worst economic crisis seen in your lifetime, you can not gird your loins for one final fight, then step aside. You have become little more than a propaganda tool for congressional Democrats. Aiding them to push though a phoney "bi-partisan" bill and muting Republican concerns.
Mr. President, resign.
Didn’t you already post this once?
Dick Cheney for president!
I never would have considered agreeing with this until W went along with this P.O.S. legislation (Why??????????)becoming WILLING participant in the biggest socialization takeover of wealth in US history.
Yes he did and it got pulled, pinging the mod now.
Bush tried. Congress denied.
Been here almost 10 years and not created an About page?
Oh my, I guess you haven’t been paying attention. We are actually having an election very soon. Bush isn’t running, so he’ll be gone. No need for him to resign.
susie
Why does Bush always throw his party under the bus? McCain too?
It was previously posted as a vanity, which is what the mod objected to.
As far as I can tell, It is now posted correctly. A published blog under the bloggers section.
I don’t have an about page.
Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are the ones who need to resign. They are the ones who stood in the way when Bush tried to tightens the reins on Fannie Mae.
OIC, I still don’t care for your attack on a good man.
Dumbest. Thread. Ever.
LOL! Heck, Bush and Cheney resign!!! Nancy Pelosi for President!
Reread the blog. It doesn’t blame Bush for creating the mess.
It does blame Bush for undermining Republican efforts to create a conservative/sensible bill. Bush has been working with Democrats and actually against Republicans when it comes to the bailout.
“Oh my, I guess you havent been paying attention. We are actually having an election very soon. Bush isnt running, so hell be gone. No need for him to resign.”
If he is going to obstruct Republican efforts to create a conservative bailout bill there is.
For some reason, Bush has decided to team up with the Democrats to push this plan through. All he is doing is giving the Democrats cover to push through the liberal, big spending verison.
It gives us President Cheney....that would cause wide-spread apoplexy on the left...ergo I am all for it.
