9/22/2008 Biden calls Obama's McCain Ad "terrible" (later saying he didn't even see it lol)

9/22/2008 Bill Clinton on the View "No, Hillary didn't really want to be the VP but she would have had she been asked." Ha!!

9/23/2008 Obama patronizes Biden for giving opinion on AIG

Taking bets....closest to the date wins (bragging rights)

Bet 1: Who will announce the breaking of the ticket? Obama? Biden? Mutual press conference? It will be "leaked"

Bet 3: Will Obama use the exact phrase, “This is not the Joe Biden I knew”?

My opinion: Biden stays.

To replace Biden would be absolute political suicide, no matter who the replacement is...

I still don't think this is likely. It plays right into the whole "3 AM phone call" concern. Presidents need to make good decisions, they don't get "do-overs". If Obama and a team of experts spends a few weeks selecting Joe Biden as VP, and if Obama then decides that his decision was a disaster, then how will people feel when he gets a 3 AM phone call saying that North Korea just invaded South korea? He's got to get this stuff right the first time.

IMO, taking down Biden would just be Obama's way of declaring "I'm not ready to be president" and I don't think he's dumb enough to take that step.

This will be an October surprise. The change will have to be made late so that there is little chance for reflection. It's effectiveness depends on the shock value.

My fearless prediction will be Oct 23rd so that the hildabeast can hit "Meet the Press" on the 26th.

If it does Obama can forget about the election, it would blow Obama to smitherines.

It would just show Obama’s judgement to be extremely bad and disastrous vetting. Hillary cannot just ride in, it would be portrayed as the most cynical ploy. She is not going to do that. Unless of course, its Obama thats gets pulled and Hillary replaces him at the top.

I say announced in a mutual press conference (there will be more rifts in the next few days).

If Hillary can participate in the debate as the new VP candidate (conforms with debate commission rules even though Biden has been formally invited lol) then

I say 9/30 so Palin’s prep for a different opponent will be undermined.

I have doubts as to whether this rift is staged to set the stage for a break. It makes both men on the ticket look pretty silly: Obama in terms of his judgment on a Veep selection, and Biden on his intelligence. If the bid is to get Biden out of the way gracefully, why would he accede to voluntarily looking mentally incompetent, especially when a simple “temporary” health scare would be enough? You give the Dems too much credit. They may indeed have buyer’s remorse but I doubt these gaffes are intentional.

The problem with these conspiracy theories is that I do not think Hillary WANTS to be Obama’s VP. I believe her and Bill think McCain is more likely to win, and they actually don’t like Obama anyway.

Far better for Hillary to help McCain and then run 2012. People forget she will be almost 70 in 2016. 2012 is her only remaining chance.

I guess she might think it is over, and being VP would be her last chance at history, but I believe she would roll the dice for the big prize.

Won't happen. Here's why.

Hillary wants the top job, so it is in her best interest to have NObama lose in November so she can run in 2012. Do you see her out there REALLY campaigning for this ticket? She would not do well being second banana.
The other factor is the 'Bill' factor. Whenever NObama says anything, everyone will look at Bill to see what he has to say. It would completely undermine NObama.

There's an old saying.."Never change horses in the middle of the river."

It applies here as well, ask McGovern how his first term as POTUS went.

I don't see Obama's (or the Clintons for that matter) ego allowing this to happen. For one it would not help him, it would make him look even more weak, it would show he has trouble making major decisions and you can bet the McCain camp would jump all over that, everyone would know that the Clinton's have the upper hand, Obama knows this, he won't do it. Plus the PUMA's and their like would not suddenly rally to Obama, they are not stupid, they would see it as a desperation move by Obama just to win.

I bet if it did happen, Obama would make Hillary sign a "prenup"...lol

Wouldn't the ballets be in place by then? Also, what about the absentee votes for Obama-Biden?

Obama’s way of declaring “I’m not ready to be president”

I agreed with this when I first heard it.

But I think they may have been reading some tea leaves through internal polls and maybe they are worse than we know?

If they know they can’t win with Obama/Biden why not roll the dice.

i thought years ago when they did the old switcheroo with Toricelli/Lautenberg in NJ that they could not have pulled that off.

Yet the Dems did! And they have never been punished for their hubris! Why not try it again?
