Those of us who got our hopes up that $4 gas would finally galvanize the country to break the strangle-hold the extremists in the environmental movement have on our lives and on our future and impel the Congress to do something sensible for a change are going to have to grit our teeth and fight even harder. Not only have these five Republican Senators joined with Democrat environmentalists to scuttle all attempts for citizens of the U.S.A. to begin to achieve some semblance of energy independence, but they may have robbed John McCain of the hottest issue to emerge in this presidential campaign drilling for our own oil.

Talk about friendly fire.

The issue hasn’t been robbed. The Gang of 10 isn’t going to get anything. I’d kick Lindsey Graham off my bus if I were John McCain. He had to know this was stupid and man is he stuck on it. Some of the guys I really don’t understand. Thune and Chambliss especially. They really need to get back on the Drill Here Drill now wagon. It is time we give them a call while they are on vacation.

Wonder what’s his payoff for siding w/libs?

This is what happens when these guys get stuck on Washington mindset. The compromise bill that Democrats were proposing would actually increase regulation. It was designed as a Trojan Horse, A phony bill to let them pass the buck.

Maybe because they want to keep the issue alive.
If a compromise like that were to occur, it would definitely take the air out of ‘drill here drill now’ balloon.
Just bringing up the possibility.....not sure if that is the case.
However, as far as political capital goes, that one issue is the ONLY one that seems to be giving GOP *any* traction.

Everyone please keep in mind that John McCain voted against drilling before he was for it. That is, when he was actually voting.

Nothing friendly about it. In order to look appear like they are above politics and really want to do something, the GOP Five are giving up their very best weapon for practically nothing. Corker is my senator and I blasted him on this,

I wonder how many of them are really Democrats pretending to be Republicans? If not that, then yes, they are Eunuchs. But remember, they are dealing with the likes of Pelosi, Feinstein and Hillary. That would be enough to cause the affliction. Just having to deal with those people on a daily basis. But still that is no exucse!
To: Maelstorm
And the worst part is that the GOP Five are stupid enough to fall for it!

Gramnesty, taking up the slack while the maverick is otherwise occupied. It was cool when Bush was the recipient, not so cool when McAMNSETY gets it.
I am becoming convinced, Republicans don't get it — At all.
