Planned Parenthood Slams McCain’s Stand on Health Insurance
AZCONSERVATIVE ^ | 20 July 2008 | John Semmens

Planned Parenthood Association’s (PPA) political action committee released a new TV ad slamming presidential candidate Senator McCain for his opposition to abortion and his “indifference” to insurers covering erectile dysfunction drugs like Viagra.

The charge of “indifference” was leveled after McCain admitted a lack of expertise on the topic. “I don’t know enough about it to give you an informed answer,” McCain replied when asked whether it was fair for insurers to pay for Viagra. “I guess that would be something for the insurers and their customers to work out on their own.”

“The indifference, the ignorance, it’s astounding,” exclaimed PPA’s Etta Young. “In essence he’s saying that it is okay for Viagra-stoked geezers to impregnate young women, but not for the women to get abortions. As he sees it, the decision on what insurance should cover is a matter for negotiation between the parties involved. Is this the kind of man we want to be our next president?”

“I guess that would be something for the insurers and their customers to work out on their own.”

Right answer.

Anymore, satire almost writes itself, doesn't it? This is so close to what PPA or NARAL would do as to be indistinguishable from reality...

i would be worried if that was what he was an “expert” on

i’d rather have a president that looks at the big picture

How come their “guy” gets to go to Iraq and receive a primer on Mideast History, War and Peace, and utter totally ridiculous statements, and our guy gets crucified for stating he has an indifference to Viagra.

The left has gone stark raving mad I tell you.

Somebody add this to the Liberal Dictionary.

Liberal Definition of Indifference = “In essence saying that it is okay for Viagra-stoked geezers to impregnate young women, but not for the women to get abortions.”

I’m not a McCain fan, but I find it refreshing when a politician is willing to say that he is unable to give an informed answer on peripheral aspects/details of an issue.

The comparison of ED to abortion only works if you are a very STIPID MORON!!!!!! Taking a drug for ED will never even come close to the act of killing of an unborn baby. There are many arguments that can be made but this one is nothing more than a DESPERATE attempt at publicity. Now we have a standard that a candidate is absolutely wrong if he does not know everything about every subject. If that is the standard I need to publicly talk to the socialist democrat candidate about the gun issue. I could write a book about what he doesn't know or won't tell the truth about on the gun issue.

You are focusing on moral issues, insurance companies don't care about that. The reason one is covered and the other isn't is that one is a medical problem and the other is a choice, that's why they call it PRO-CHOICE. If you choose to murder your unborn child then don't treat it like a medical condition and expect insurance to cover it.

Yes, it was the right answer. And the fact that this right answer equals ‘indifference’ to PP is not surprising since it isn’t the answer they want to hear.

They think there’s nothing wrong with FORCING businesses to have to provide things they normally wouldn’t, or that customer demand hasn’t already made them decide to have as an option.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make. Treating ED is not taking or threatening a life. Abortion is all about ending a life process. It is impossible to compare the two as equals. It is the desperate mental leap of a moron to try and do so. It is insulting that they think the rest of us are to stupid to figure this out for ourselves.
I'm not even trying to argue or address the abortion issue. My comment was about the stupidity of this argument.
