Barack Obama and his media comrades are engaged in an active effort to put his radical left-wing wife, "quintessential American" Michelle Obama, off-limits. That's what his effort to defend her yesterday was about. Republicans should not be intimidated by Obama and his media machine into not raising legitimate questions about Obama's beautiful but angry wife.
It's simple. If we want to elect a Republican president, we must paint Barack Obama as the radical leftist he is. If Obama is even marginally acceptable to the American people, he will win, given the harsh political terrain Republicans face. A key part of this battle to show who the real Barack Obama is involves his wife, Michelle.
Generally a candidates family should be off limits in a campaign. If Candidate Y tries to make an issue of the fact that Candidate Xs son is a cokehead, it is more likely to generate sympathy for Candidate X and anger at Candidate Y than anything else.
An exception to this is for the spouse of a presidential candidate. There are two reasons for thisany presidential candidate who is not greatly influenced by his or her spouse probably has a sham marriage that is only intended to give off a false sense of normalcy. And the first lady is considered a top emissary and people around the world think that she speaks for America.
Just think back to Hillarys trip to Bosnia as first lady where she had to dodge all that sniper fire on the tarmac. That was clearly one of many instances in which she was dispatched as a goodwill emissary from the U.S. In other words, if Michelle Obama is traveling around the world popping off about how much she hates America, and how mean Americans are, that is a real problem for America. That, and the fact that the president's spouse can be assumed to have a great effect on the president, makes the issue of her out of the mainstream views on America relevant.
Politically, Michelle Obama is critical to the effort to demonstrate who Obama really is--a radical leftist who will greatly endanger America's security because he thinks that America, not our enemies, is the problem. Sure, we have Reverend Wrong, other kindred souls of Obama and all kinds of nutty quotes by Obama, like saying he wants to cozzy up to dictators of terrorist states without conditions and that he wants to relieve America of our nuclear weapons. But Michelle really completes the picture like nobody else can.
Obviously the media will push back hard against anyone who brings up Mrs. Obama as a political liability. And the same media that will circle the wagons around her will hound Cindy McCain for her tax returns and any other shreds of information on her private life that they can get their hands on.
But the American people are once again on the opposite side of the media. Look at what a disaster Bill Clinton turned out to be as a campaigner for his wife. And thats because behavior by the would-be first spouse that is beyond the pale is relevant.
But people need to stick to the facts regarding what is troubling about Michelle Obama. Lies will simply discredit the whole anti-Obama effort. Attacks have been circulating around the media about some of the things she wrote while at Princeton. These have truly been misrepresented by her detractors, as snopes.com has pointed out.
To be sure, re-injecting Michelle Obama and her radical left-wing views into the campaign has to be done tactfully. But it has to be done.
How ??
How about an example, Gypsy Man?
Sorry kiddo....your post makes no sense to me...
please clarify..
Ok
Sorry...it’s late ... I’m sleepy..
You have a very valid post...
it’s just too late at night ...and most people
are getting zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
post this again in the a.m.
Goodnight kiddo!!
A small 527 ad would be one way (if someone had the money). The media would give massive coverage to even a small buy because the issue is so combustible.
Start by saying what a radical Obama is, play clips from Reverend Wright, say how he only left the church after it became a political issue, and lastly say that Mrs. Obama, the would-be first lady, says America is downright mean and that she’s never been proud of America. (Is that more than 30 seconds?!)
Remember Theresa Kerry became a liability just by being sort of goofy. Michelle Obama has done much worse, saying very hateful things about America.
Clearly it’s high risk, and taking on a spouse is a messy business. I just don’t see it going our way without really trying to create an accurate picture of Obama, which in his case includes his wife because she is so far out of the American mainstream.
And imagine the outrageous invective things the left would be saying about OUR candidate if Huckabee or Romney were our nominee. They would pull no punches, we shouldn’t either.
Like Wet Willie, “I’ll Keep On Smilin”.
Okay...
:-(
Just a wild guess but how soon are we going to see Baracks kids hanging out on MSM morning shows with Milee Cyerus.
Pop goes the weasel.
I am playing around with my new Samsung screen and her photo looks like silly putty stretched.
Is it my monitor or the pic posted oddly.
Hmmm
Well Im tired of all Obama all the time and the same goes for Mrs. Obama.
No worries!
Then Cindy McCain had better stand by, because you know the Democrats will go after her any way they can in retaliation.
All Michelle Obama would have had to do to avoid the criticism she’s getting was not to have made the outrageous comments she made. It’s that simple. Nobody remembers anything Tipper Gore said, but because Theresa Heinz-Kerry got angry and shot her mouth off, she received criticism. T All Michelle should have said was, “this is a great country, and my husband will make a great president.” Slandering your own country when your husband is a prez candidate will draw criticism.
How? One way is through letters to the editor... maybe addressing her elitist attitude and the $600 earrings?
