Shuttin' up Sally...YEA Fox

If only it was the beginning of a media trend. Studio execs know that people from both sides of the political spectrum watch their shows. Considering the statistics, two-thirds of the country doesn't pay attention to politics, ever, so your actors are more likely to lose you money and advertisers when they spout off, then attract any net gain, (unless bad publicity is considered a gain). Just blacking out their inappropriate remarks helps keep attention on the actual show, not some self-important actors latest pet project. If the actor has a problem with that, go on the news and talk shows and complain. Thats where they belonged in the first place!

Thank God someone has finally figured out that when you are watching entertainment, you expect entertainment. I don't care what any narcissistic actor thinks about foreign affairs. The night was for us to make fun of these self-important egomaniacs as they tell each other how special they are, not politics. If she wants to say something to the nation, I understand the NYTimes will sell her a full page add for 65,000 dollars. Stars have every right to speak out about what they believe, like anyone else. They don't have the right to hijack an audience that is there for something entirely different. These dopes that can't even remember their prerehearsed script, (I mean, she only had, what, MONTHS to remember that tripe, and she forgot halfway through. Thats how important it was to her. SHE couldn't even remember it!), have the gall to start preaching to people that actually work for a living? Hey, Hollywood, do what you do, make us laugh, cry, scream and dance, but unless your running for office and ready to subject your ideas to open debate with a willing audience, STFU. Bravo, Fox entertainment for not being dragged into the political arena. The sad thing is, now she will get what she wants, publicity, but at least it will be on Fox News and political shows, where it belongs.

Why does Hollyweird think that their opinions are more important than anyone else's? Does Gidget have a PhD in foreign relations? Walk up there, take your little award, thank your agent and sit down, you old has-been!

The only snippet I caught of the Emmy's was Sally in a red dress preparing to open an envelope to announce award winner. That was it. . .so am guessing I missed a 'prequel' here; or a foot-note.

Funny, always liked Sally; and for that fleeting moment, was relieved she did not go 'political'; and I thought great, she is keeping her 'class' here. Apparently she did. Too bad. . .really, too bad.

Another one, gets the 'gong'. . .

Bravo, Fox entertainment for not being dragged into the political arena.

The writer is mistaken. Field wasn't censored for the political content of her speech. She was censored for using the word "g-ddamn." That's it.

I’m like you, I don’t watch this tripe either. Who really cares what some ditz from Hollyweird thinks, much less says, on a t.v. show of awards they give each other?

Burt Reynolds' receptacle, long ago.

One of my favorite actresses of all time. I had no idea she was so dense. This is really sad.

After they’ve breathed hollywood air for awhile, most seem to become assimilated. Only the strong successfully resist, and there sure aren’t many strong hollywoodies.

That explains a lot. He probably did treat her like a recepticle.

The man makes me want to vomit.

I always liked her a lot, too. I hate to see this. Just last week or so it was my other favorite, Helen Hunt who disappointed me. I did not care for Sally Field in Not Without My Daughter but I liked her other things pretty much. I can’t remember the name of the movie I liked where she has been left with a cotton farm and gets help from a black man to run it.

I don’t know but she sure seemed confused when she was talking to “The people...the people!”

I saw the clip. She was almost incoherent at times. Sad.

She should have stopped when she was ahead. As soon as she started thinking after that long banter of sputter, she would have been ok. I have stood in front of people and said things that I wish I hadn’t but never like that. Usually it is something stupid about work that was wrong or did not explain something correctly.

You better take Ray Romano off your list too then. He said much worse that she did.

Heard O'Reilly comment; but did not hear Ray. Easy to take Ray off the list. . .but of course, he is 'short history'; and so I am less likely to be at least, 'as' insensed. . .

Sally, OTOH. . .'we go way back' ;^)
