No, Google is not defacing billboards belonging to others. Instead, Google, through its new toolbar, is hijacking the websites visited by its users and replacing their ads with Google ads.

Wow, this got demoted to Bloggers & Personal in a tearing hurry.
I don’t see how this could be legal. I have to check WND from my home computer later. A website is property and making someone’s site look like it has content that is not allowed is no different than walking onto someones front lawn and putting up lawn signs of your choice. There is also a serious issue with interferring with the business of the website. The sites make money on thier ads, some of which are pay-per-click. If Google is not allowing people to veiw the ads, they are taking away the sites ability to earn an income.
I do believe that hacking someones site is illegal.
I noticed today that my Free Republic icon (next to the FR name) on my toolbar is a Google icon now. Pissed me off big time. Also the tab says G (Google icon) next to Posting Comment, as I write this right now. Time to eject this virus/Spyware/Hackerware from my computer!
Yes. It would seem as if this is massive lawsuit and illegal territory, but guess they decided it is worth the fight. We’ll see. They are ruthless with privacy concerns, hacking, and hijacking!
Hey Jim, this google-analytics stuff is also having weird side effects on FR. Firefox keeps putting up a warning panel. Isn’t there anybody else less, well, evil that FR can do business with?
hey, they’re a bunch of russians who make money reading your email, and you let them. that’s reason enough to hate them (even if it is an impressive scam).
What did work, I believe, is running a program I have called Speed up My PC, by a company called Uniblue. After doing my scan and optimization on computer, the true red, white, and blue star FR icon is back in its rightful place. (All is well in the world again, sigh) :-)
Definitely not advertising product here, but wanted to let everyone know I believe this was the fix. So basically to fix this problem it takes a step up from a basic Spyware program. Now to find a fix on the ad replacement that this thread is really all about . . . I think that one is going to take a lawsuit or two. :-O!
Love my Free Republic Icon!!! Thanks Jim. :-)
