Nicholas and Barney Broomfield (a father and son film-making team) have begun promoting their film, The Battle for Haditha. The film purports to "reenact" the incident in Haditha by showing deranged Marines slaughtering unarmed civilians in cold blood.
In an interview in Britian's The First Post, Barney Broomfield says this...
"Spending so much time so close to these guys [the Marine actors in the film] I realised it is much harder to blame the troops for some of the things that happen in war," Broomfield concludes. "It's much harder to point the finger when you know these are just young kids who are, usually for financial reasons, going out and fighting a rich man's war.
"In many ways, the marines are fighting for the same reasons as the people who have joined the insurgency in Iraq are fighting. Many of them were pushed onto the streets when the Iraqi army was disbanded, and they had no work or money.
"Just like the marines, they want to be able to provide for their wives and their kids. For most people, I came to understand, that is the reality of war."
I am so angry I could spit tacks. What the— Who the— Why the—
See, I just better leave it there. I am bound to say words that haven’t crossed my lips for a long time, and I really hate the taste of soap.
I am just going to pray that people involved in this fiction have a change of heart. That is the best thing I can do.
And as always, many prayers for our brave troops, especially on this Independence Day!
**muttering as she walks away** Insurgents just want to provide for their wives and kids—BAAHH!
Speaking of “financial reasons”, the only comment my son ever made was “I’m an E-2, so I don’t get paid jack-squat either.” Of course, he was soon promoted to Lance Corporal and was making the big bucks, LOL.
Happy July 4th, USMCPOP!
I remember when Dan Rather was opining that if only we had a better economy, military guys and gals would have more opportunity. They wouldn’t be forced to join the military to get “ahead” financially in life.
I think it makes liberals feel better about themselves when they use this reason on why people join the military.
Happy Independence Day, Pop!
Wonder what kind of Marines and Soldiers are willing to have anything to do with this film. Guess money speaks stronger then patriotism and the Corps.’s values.
Marine Elliot Ruiz...
and Marine Andrew McLaren, to name two.
Go to the IMDb site for the full cast. Not sure just how many served in the Corps they're now betraying.
I gotta hit the rack. I had some fifty plus pings, and little time and energy to provide feedback and thanks to all that pinged. Back to work in a few hours. work work work.
The film depicts enraged Marines killing unarmed civilians like five passengers in a white taxi at the scene of the IED explosion...
Marines also murder surrendering Iraqis, who pose no danger, inside the houses, and a nice Iraqi guy in white socks running around outside...
After the slaughter, the squad leader is told by a clueless officer that he'll get a Bronze Star...
Then, at the end of the trailer, the squad leader who led the killings says, "We did everything like we were trained."
Any former serviceman who took part in this POS movie should denounce it now.
Ping!
Yes, denounce it and give all of your profits to fund the Haditha Marines.
